It's fucking amazing man. I've got it loaded with all my fav dreamcast and snes games so far and they run like a dream - well, from the 30 seconds I had after spending hours setting the thing up! Worth it though.

Struggling a wee bit with Saturn emulation. Don't want loads but quite fancied getting Exhumed / Powerslave up and running and it seems a bit iffy. Using the Yaba Sanshiro Pro if anyone has any tips.

Saturn is one of the systems I want to try out too, not got around to it yet though. Been a long time since I tried Saturn emus full stop though. I would be tempted to just try the new remake of Exhumed first though (it was one of my favourite Saturn games and FPS games). I am curious how you get on though.

I still got to pick up a Fenrir ODE for my Saturn soon, not even my demo disks work anymore.

Saturn is probably the only system I've not messed with properly. I heard it can be a pain in the ass.

A bit glitchy but it's not bad. Hexen runs fine, as does a few others. Which is fine. Got all my snes, mega drive and Dreamcast ones on there so I'm perfectly happy.

Saturn seems to run pretty well on the vid below. It seems tweaking the resolution gives better results than other emulator settings. youtu.be/Ar9mOY6gVug

@wuntyate You still enjoying the RP2+? I've been delving into some 3ds eshop gems. Some cracking titles i have bypassed. I also have one of these coming soon www.analogue.co/super-nt

Getting a bit addicted with populating it with games. Got a good selection of Snes, MD, Saturn, DC and now some GBA ones on there. Only had a couple of minor snags so far, with the DC, I need to swap emulators for a couple of games, but everything else seems to run very well. Really impressed.

Is this Daggerfall Unity - GOG Cut a new thing?
Seems pretty cool. I think it's just a prepackaged curated set of mods and content in the upgraded engine. Less faff though.

I really don't like the new look, plus it takes quite a bit of power from my admittedly crappy GPU. I think the standard Daggerfall Unity let you play with the original graphics of the game, which don't require as much power and also look better.

I would prefer original graphics with bug fixes if I ever played this. I do recall the original supposedly being very buggy. Then again I remember that even Ultima Underworld unpatched had a few nasty bugs back in the day. I need to give the original Fallouts another go which will likely involve some more patch fiddling. I can't remember if the GOG copies were the uncensored ones or not (I remember actually hosting the Fallout 2 kids patch for a while back when these things were hard to find)...

Original Daggerfall had more bugs than game I think it's the only game that I bought and returned three times! There was something undeniably great about it, but it could also be incredibly frustrating to play.

iirc it was the only game back then where I had to install an update taken from one of those gaming mag CDs, because as shipped the game would crash after 10 minutes at most. Fallout 4 was the only game in recent memory where I had to edit config files after the install to make it run properly. Good old Bethesda, stay true to yourselves

The Blade Runner “enhanced edition” is out.
Holy fuck is it bad
The upscaled videos look genuinely awful, the backdrops are a blurry mess, the controls are bugged to fuck, the UI is all over the place and half finished, and it’s just completely inferior to playing the original through ScummVM.

What platform are you playing it on, grem? I was thinking of checking it out on PS5 or Switch. If it's even available on those.

PC.
Based on how it works there I wouldn’t touch it on console, it’ll be a dire mess.

Didn't they showcase the game a while back and got a lot of stick because the character models looked too clean?
Anyway I have this on GOG through ScummVM. Then again it's only £8 on Switch. Not exactly breaking the bank.

I looked at a video online and some of the scenes do look pretty bad with all the detail smoothed out - there's one area with graffiti on the wall that's just a smudge now
I'm not sure if I liked the 60fps anyway personally. It's almost too smooth for what it is. That said, I've got a lot of affection for old games so old graphics and stuff never bothered me. The original still looks great
If I was going to play it personally, I'd just go to the effort of getting the original working (and would say it's worth doing if you want to play it)

This video jumps straight to what I'm talking about (shouldn't be any spoilers)

Yeah it really doesn't look great does it. This is actually one of those instances where a film grain / noise filter on top of their smoothing would make it less jarring. But really would be better without the smoothing at all.

Hmm well considering they said the original code was lost, and they reverse engineered the game. I'd say it's not too bad for £8.

I was watching the clip with the overhead train in the video I posted above, trying to work out why it bothers me so much. I think it's in part due to the smoothing of the texture and also much smoother animation at 60fps making it stick out a lot more as a 3D object. It doesn't mesh as well with the rest of the scene as it does in the original
I think this is an issue you get with some remasteres where you improve some aspects more than the others, things start to stick out and look jarring
@spooky depends how much you want to play it I guess. You probably won't notice things as much if you're not familiar with the original. I haven't seen the menus that gremmi talked about but I do think the new title screen looks bad. Just not in keeping with the aesthetic of the rest of the game
