Yeah, though I hear it’s fiddly if you try and use an SD card. Make sure you get the latest OTA update as it’s much faster going through lists in the Retroid front end which IMO is the best thing about the device - it’s super fast to get into and out of games with it. I’m fine keeping to the internal 32gb, which gives you about 25gb to play with. I've got one with an SD in, it was really easy to be honest. I use the installed front end and also Reset Collection. You can use multiple front ends if you like. The standard one has definitely improved and scraping works very well as long as the files are named correctly. I really like it, the buttons feel good for the price and it seems to happily run anything up to PS1 and some PSP. Don't believe the videos about it doing GameCube, it will only do the simplest games well.

So went to get an expansion pak from CEX today. Opened the box and it was the jumper pak inside lol… come on.

As somebody who used to work for CeX, thats very common. They don't test them and if its a busy store, they'll take the customer's word if there's a queue.
I had to adjust off a fair few in my time.

Ffs broke the power button on my 351v whilst swapping out some of the face buttons. Ordered some replacements from AliExpress so that's a job for a few weeks time.
In other uninteresting news I have a white DS lite and DSi arriving next week.

$20 at a collector store. Will I ever have the hardware to play them as is? Nope. Do I care? Nope.

That's some good stuff right there. One little known fact is, that collection saved Activision back when they were about to declare bankruptcy.
I found all those games, except for HHGTTG, on my Zork Legacy disc. They were all hidden in a folder, you just needed an interpreter to load the files.

Entered a bid for Conkers Bad Fur Day for £70. Then got outbid and chickened out.. I think I may regret it as that seemed 'cheap' compared to other ones on sale. Reminds me of over 15 years ago when I had the chance to buy it for £40 and chickened out because I thought that was expensive. One day I'll have the game.. one day.

So I ended up ordering a Retroid Pocket 2+ last night because I find the best way to fill the big hole inside me is to buy stuff I won't have time to use. Is it quite easy to set up? No idea when it's coming mind you. Being delivered today apparently.
Not got a fucking clue what i'm meant to do with it.
Is there a good place to get all the games from etc?

Archive.org actually has good ROM sets nowadays. Download speeds there aren’t brilliant but the nature of the default Retroid interface and the smaller size of most roms that work with the system means you probably are best off picking what you want rather than trying to have everything.

Yeah I've got a rough list. It's mainly dreamcast games and a few others. Is there an idiots guide somewhere with what to do with it all?

A YouTuber called Retro Game Corps has pretty good guides on most of the popular retro handhelds - give him a check. He’s also got a guide for using android for emulation in general.

Wasn't the XBox one oddly censored despite its original moniker being "Live & Uncut" before they switched it to "Reloaded"?

IIRC it was that you could remove the beep on the swearing in the N64 version but not on Xbox.

I don't remember the beep being removable on N64, but I do recall more words being beeped on Xbox over the N64 original. That said, the Rare Replay version mentioned isn't the Xbox remake, but just a straight port of the N64 version similar to Banjo ports. And I believed the censorship was identical to the original release.

For some reason I thought the Rare Replay version was based on the Xbox not the N64 version. Not owning an Xbox since 360 I never owned or played it.

At the time the Xbox One could play more N64 games officially than the current Nintendo system so it makes sense that it’d be the N64 version.

Maybe I should just stick to playing it on Rare Replay then. I've just got really into playing on the N64 on my 'new' CRT. The games look fantastic.

It's a strange feeling going back to a crt, mine is just a 14in Panasonic but I keep checking gumtree for the illusive Sony's or bigger sets.

A PVM? Mine is a 14in Sony. I looked into a PVM but this Sony was £39 and thought it was a bit of a steal.

I doubt I'd find one but a huge Sony Triniton would do nicely.

I wonder if they could have increased the resolution if the game had supported the expansion pak... but then, I guess the framerate would have been even worse. That said, it runs well enough for N64. In fact, it runs better than most expansion pak-supporting games like Perfect Dark, Turok 2, Shadow Man and Majora's Mask.

They’ll be prying my Sony 29in with Dolby Pro Logic out of my cold dead hands. I’m so glad I kept it.

I had an old 27" Sony WEGA I wish I had kept. I had a flatscreen and it supported S-Video, so all the older consoles looked incredible on it.

Not sure I've got the patience for this. Watched the retro game corps vids for setting up the retold pocket 2+. All pretty straight forward. Followed it all to the letter. Got as far as firing a game up. None of my control inputs work. Retroarch now refuses to let me do anything at all and doesn't recognise anything I press.
Joy.

Actually. I had managed to activate a mouse pointer. Which fucked everything up. Now it works and I'm playing the Dreamcast version of shadowman.
Twist my nipple nuts it's amazing.
