Is an an ES-330? What are you running it through? It's an Epi ES-345 with Varitone. It's still through my Katana with a digital effects rig but it sounds amazing. I have a burning need to learn jazz scales. š Careful, that's a road you can't uncross

True jazz is any notes in any order, none of this scales business.

Sounds like jazz players need to moisturise a bit more.

Done Blackpool the last two days. Havenāt stayed there since I was a child.
Sandcastle water parkday 1 - this is quite decent but it does look tired and theyāve never updated the decor so far as I can tell. There are two āwowā slides/rides with everything else falling into the āso-so but funā camp. The best one is called Masterblaster, which is where your donut (not a euphemism) is propelled by high pressure water jets - including a physics-defying uphill section. The bits where you can chill out are nice enough, but you have to have a good tolerance for other peopleās horribly behaved kids, especially on the river rapids bit.
Within a similar distance we also have access to Stoke Waterworld, which has more variety and is a bit better IMO - although their water has a weird green tinge to it. Iād give this 6/10 as an adult but as a family thing as was, itās probably an 8, and would be a 9 if Stoke wasnāt better than it.
Pleasure Beach - we bought a fast pass. This is massively shoe horned in and didnāt work well on every ride. The steeple chase for instance, the fast queue was far bigger than the normal queue and was restricted to one horse so you couldnāt as a fam race one another on it. Furthermore the pass is now done on an app with a terrible UI and is confusing and clunky as hell to use.
Food was shit. Not only that, the customers were all arseholes, pushing in queues, and in one memorable moment walking away from two buckets of French Fries causing a highly disruptive seagull pile on.
Rides. Nickoldean orange thing - this I think was the oldest rollercoaster there and used to be called the Velvet Coaster - which is now what the local Spoons is called. This is a classic ride and is very undulating compared to modern rides. Itās wooden and rickety.
Steeplechase - queuing chaos, a tame ride but really jerky and ruff, got sore hips from this one. The old fella running it told me Iād walk like John Wayne after and he wasnāt wrong.
Avatar Airbender - basically a spinning disc, you mount the saddle in the manner of a quad bike, and the disc traverses a U-shape and turns continuously under its own momentum. It was OK. Good views and didnāt make me sick.
Big One - still a classic ride, the first climb and drop and the view as you get up there is amazing. It must need maintenance though as it was a violent experience. It didnāt used to be like that. Where is the money they are robbing from us going?!
Ikon - one I definitely didnāt want to miss. I missed it as by then I was pissed off with the park and couldnāt find the fast pass entrance. This is a theme of the park, itās cheap and nasty and there are no staff to help and no maps about so f*ck you customers!
Ghost Train - a tired, tired classic. Last time we went they had updated it with crap LED screen stuff. Much of this had been strangely removed but Iām sure there was stuff from my childhood gone, so it looks like old stuff is gone too. Crucially, the carriage doesnāt bang through the doors anymore, robbing it of some atmosphere.
Some maze thing - absolutely naff, a brief mirror maze, a hall of dirty distorted mirrors, and some cheap optical illusions that were just prints in old frames.
Valhalla - we were all tired and pissed off and didnāt want to get wet so we missed it.
We went to Alton Towers more recently and itās a far better experience. Everybody should experience the Pleasure Beach once but go outside the school holidays and embrace the kitsch. Itās a bit naff really and many of the customers are scarier than the rides. Iām giving it 5/10. I know they spent a LOT of money on two new rides recently but I think their next investment should be in maintenance, upgrades and infrastructure. Itās a lethargic theme park.
Iām user Drakesmoke and this has been my TED talk

De-cluttering my living space, in an effort to avoid going full hoarder.
ā Got rid of half a dozen cardboard boxes I'd been keeping for no particular reason.
ā Cleared all extraneous stuff off the top of my desk, wiped away a level of dust that would make an asthmatic run away in terror.
ā Installed an under-desk drawer for various bits and pieces I frequently use, cables and the like.
ā Did proper cable management while I was down there. Nothing trailing on the floor any more.
ā I got one of those narrow kitchen trolley things, took the wheels off it so it would fit nicely at the side of my desk, and put my two big external hard drives on it with the cables neatly tucked away round the back, where they can connect to:
ā My new mini-PC I've set up as a media hub. It's so tiny and silent I regret not buying one sooner.

Loving the de-cluttering of my desk. Reclaimed so much space. (No, seriously, almost no wooden bit was visible with all the junk I had on it.)
I finally rigged up The Armā¢, which I've been meaning to do for ages. Android tablet displaying video game maps is cool.
And look at tiny little media boy. How is this a full PC.

Bought a new iron after the old one was close to setting itself on fire, had to remove it to the back garden for safety reasons Did a shit load of ironing, going back into a corporate office environment and wearing shirt and trousers every day really increases the volume Had a barbecue Played mini golf, scored 37 for 18 holes, which I think is a PB on that course Played 9 holes of real golf It was a good day to be fair

Sister-in-law, her wife and their daughter are staying with us for a long weekend (which is nice) but have managed to get everyone out for a walk so I can prepare a roast, whilst listening to music loud, drinking beer and having some "me time" (i.e. recharging the social battery). Blissful.
Might even finish off building a shelf whilst the meat and potatoes are in the oven.
Fish and chips on the beach tomorrow, so generally a nice weekend.

Went to a place called Ingleton Falls today, very cool, England is such a beautiful and unique place in a lot of ways
This might sound a bit odd but Iāll say it anyway, there were a lot of people there, hundreds, lots of diversity and many of them were most likely Muslim. And it was just nice to see them enjoying their day, feeling safe and just having a great time

Eeking out the last of the summer by having dinner on the beach (flask of sausages included!!) followed by a swim in the sea. Just got out of a hot shower and feel invigorated. Lovely family evening for a work/school night.

I'm going for a late night stroll along the coastal path, nice cold Peroni half way round, last time it'll be semi-warm I reckon.

Rowing this morning before work, like I was the last four mornings. Because I'm on the water at half six and it's only just getting light. So I only have a couple of weeks left before a long miserable winter. But this week I wanted to make the most of it. No wind and it's relatively warm.
Fucking hell.
Yesterday out in a single and I got about 3k down and just sat on the water. The moon was huge and reflecting perfectly off the completely still surface. Beyond that there was that early morning steam fog on the surface. All around me the cobwebs on the bushes were sparkling. It was fucking beautiful. If ever these horrendous 5 o'clock starts were justified, there it is. This morning was equally awesome but for different reasons. Out in a pair and doing a proper 5k race pace on the way back and the canal was suddenly full of paddleboarders all over the place. None of them keeping to their side. It was nuts. We had to slalom through them whilst still going full pelt. But it was awesome. Another glorious morning and yet again no fucking wind so perfectly still surface. Herons and otters along the bank, wee fishes jumping about all over the place. A few weeks ago there was a seal on the pontoon when I arrived, just chilling out.
Winter is going to fucking suck.

I'm really dreading winter this year. My Mrs really suffers during it and with the crap summer we had...
Still, this last week has been fantastic and long may it last.

First day of a three-day conference, and I can't really be bothered. It's a software company's users conference, so in between the propaganda I'm expecting decent food and maybe some freebees. Paid for by work, in town so I don't have to travel, I should be mooching it up big time. Instead, I'm leaving going until the last minute, just want a lie-in TBH.
Also, opened my blinds first thing to see the person in the flat opposite texting in the nude. I put the blinds back down.
