Got 76176 "Escape From The Ten Rings" as my Brickset Secret Santa gift, together with a Santa polybag, and a neat little Golden Snitch set. Being out of work has really curtailed my Lego spending this year - think I've only picked up one or two sets in the past 12 months, though I did treat myself to the Tumbler recently when John Lewis had it going cheap.
Did manage to get myself a job (of sorts) doing Technic reviews for Brick Fanatics, so got sent two sets (42137 Porsche Formula E and 42139 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500) a few weeks before Christmas, and I get to keep the sets in lieu of payment. Here's hoping for more of that in 2022.
Going to have to get the new Modular in January, but other than that, there's not much I want at the moment.
(Keep telling yourself that, Boo, keep telling yourself that.)

Good way to get 'free' lego, I'll have to check out your reviews, what format do they take?

My missus is building the Daily Bugle at the moment. Awesome looking set, even if the characters are a little wasted on her.
Her; "look, this bit is sandman's nest!"

I read the Mustang review. Very good. Proper professional like! Do you do the pics, or are they provided by Lego?
I very nearly bought that monster truck one you mention at the end of the review for my son for xmas.

I read both, very good. Strikes a good balance of being both jovial and informative, really hope it takes off for you Boo.
Is there any opportunity for being a paid contributor, or is the deal free lego?

I build the sets, take the photos, write the review (write the theme tune, sing the theme tune).
I had some paid work when I wrote for Blocks magazine a few years back, but this is 'keep the sets in lieu'. I actually got in touch with them as they were advertising a paid, part-time position, but a journo with 30 years experience got that particular gig. But Rob, the Ed, knew me from his Blocks days, so asked me about doing some reviewing.
It's good fun - be nice if it lead to paid work, but I'm happy to keep doing this if they've got more work for me.

Cool. The pics look proper professional too. I kinda assumed they were stock shots from Lego.
I'm absolutely not the target audience, so don't listen to me, it's just that at one point in the mustang review I think you talked about the inner structure and i thought it might have been cool to have a half-built pic.
Nice reviews though I hope you get a paid gig out of it. (though I get the sense paid gigs for writing on the web don't actually pay that much... the lego is probably higher in value!)

Just ordered the Sonic Green Hill Zone set for my nephew. You don't get much for £60 these days do you? Looking over the store, The AT-AT was £700! - do many people buy these things? I reckon he'll love though

Just bought the sonic set too.
Panicked slightly when I received no order confirmation and there was no order in my account but the buggers had taken the money. All good now though!
Think I might pick up some of the Luigi Mansion stuff too.

I really need to get a decent sized set for myself instead of watching my missus enjoy building them... Still have an unbuilt Ducati Technic bike that I grabbed via HUKD, but it just doesn't have that special appeal. The batwing and batmobile are both pretty damn tempting and I know I'll kick myself when they're only available used at twice the price. /edit Well I've missed the boat on the batmobile anyway... Damn it!

I still have an unbuilt Bonsai tree, should finish that up this holidays really. Also just saw a Stranger Things Lego set, that would be cool if it weren't 250 euro.

The stranger things set (upside down house?) looks pretty cool but is a fiddly bastard to connect the two halves. It ended up getting dismantled after it came apart the first time.

Anybody grab any of the Lego on sale in Argos? I got the smaller Shield Helicarrier (with Modok) for 60 euro.
It'll be going in the lift until my lad is old enough to play with it.

If your house is big enough for a lift, that explains how you can afford Lego sets.

Haha if only! It's precisely the fact that I can't afford full price Lego that sees me looking for these bargains!
I couldn't have justified spending €130 on a Lego set, but €60 for the size of the helicarrier is good value.

Ok looking to get a Lego set - I have €200-€250 to spend (Amazon gift card). I haven’t built Lego in years and God dammit, I’m a 38 year old man boy and I want to buy a toy!!
So, I’m currently thinking of either the Apollo Saturn V (€158) or the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (€185).
What do people think? What would you go for? Or something else?
I’m pretty much open to anything but want a massive build (for that price range).

I don't really like Lego but I am a Ghostbusters fan and got bought the ecto-1 last year and did enjoy building it. It's a big old unit and looks like the thing it looks like. Looks good on the shelf.
And because I built it quite studiously, Ive been labelled a 'lego fan' and got bought the big, yellow mario cube this year.

I've got mine mounted on the wall using this mounting kit: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/753926496/wall-mounting-kit-for-displaying-apollo?ref=yr_purchases

That display looks phenomenal!!! So, the general consensus is that the Saturn V is the better option? With the Ecto-1, I also like the stylish black box - looks really well put together (I’m a sucker for packaging and limited editions).

I have the Saturn but I really like LEGO cars, despite not having any particular interest in them otherwise. A good LEGO car model is recognisable by everyone, and they’re typically very easy to display. The shuttle is large though, and the scale is impressive.

I've also got the Discovery, but haven't built it yet... 😁
