Won a bunch private bids for some collectable comics and finally taking my collection a bit more seriously. Quite happy with my haul so far. Definitely getting dale-esque! 🤣 For reference I haven't won a NHS settlement to spend on comics. It's all to invest back into my version of Continue Play called Jazzy Jalfrezi.

I have a whole week off work and Mrs Mercury and the feral beasts are off to a holiday park, so just me and the cat for a week, though I do have to finish off the IKEA shelves shenanigans. So in true Mrs Mercury's family style their holiday has been nothing short of a disaster apparently, not only have I been bugged by messages all the time every day but she fell out with her sister (that's who shes staying with at the holiday park) on the first evening and apparently the atmosphere has not been how Russ Abbot would have liked, rather the opposite, I could go on but must resist, anyway I have to collect them early. Hey-ho I was rather enjoying the peace and quiet.

Hey-ho I was rather enjoying the peace and quiet. So I had to collect the hoard of Muppets this afternoon, they managed a whole four days, my brief week long bachelor party has ended. Oh well, I will seek solace with a Caribbean tipple and continue my woodworking endeavors as best I can with the inevitable constant interruptions ....
On the plus side it seems like Mrs Mercury's relationship with her semi-estranged sister is on the rocks again.

We went for a walk in a nearby woodland park today and on the lawn area there was a family having a big birthday party - two gazebos! - and at one point all the older women got up and did the full choreography to 5678 by Steps.
It was a beautiful escape from, and antidote to, whats been in the news this weekend.

Manufactured a 10m dynorod-esque plastic bendy thing with a ping pong ball* taped to the end to feed through some corrugated* conduit. Worked a treat so now got my amp, in one room, wired up to my projector, in another!

*you can imagine the mk1 failure hence this.

He used the money he managed to save up from strategically fainting when the bill in the curry house comes. :P Oh no wait, curry and fainting were two sperate events. I'm getting mixed up.

Day 5 of my holiday with 4 extra house guests plus 5 guests visiting but staying nearby. So far we have had 4 days down the beach, paddleboarding every day, hosted a BBQ for 17 people and then a spontaneous pasta bake night tonight. We have got through probably close to 30 bottles of wine and a few dozen beers. Definitely all burnt the candle at both ends - everyone else in bed so am taking 30 mins of peace and quiet for the first time since the hoardes arrived. It's been ace but exhausting. 6 more days, then a day's respite before camping for 4 nights with friends. Will need another holiday to recover for sure.

It's full on for sure with lot of running around, cooking/cleaning etc. But the kids are happy with their cousins so it's all gravy imo. Hoping for a few lazy house days but hard when the weather is good.

Sounds good apart from the pasta bake. I really hate pasta bake.
We were going to take a cheeky trip to the IoW but the ferry is dumb expensive so we just went to Devon instead.
More news at 11.

The ferry companies take the piss though and are strangling the island. If you're not booking through a big chain to get heavy discount, people just won't bother.

It's a shame. It seems to be the trend though. Rosyth ferries should have been handy for Europe from Scotland, but were so ridiculously expensive no-one much went and drove to dover instead.
It's mental and doesn't encourage use. I think they've possibly stopped now too for passengers, but have never thought about it since i found out how expensive it was!

Bloody hell it costs HOW MUCH to get across to the IoW! I did a cheeky search and over £200. I remember going over as a kid. I bet it wasn't anywhere near that.

Yeah, we've talked about popping over for a quick visit but then noped out when we saw the ferry prices. Fucking extortionate!

Is it at least cheaper for the inhabitants?? Nope. We get the odd voucher code for 20% off or so but it's not much. In theory you can buy a book of tickets that works out at £35 each way. But a) you need a minimum of £350 up front and b) there are limited spaces per sailing and if you don't book weeks in advance you're shit out of luck

I've never met anyone who's planned a pasta bake more than an hour in advance. It's the ultimate back up fuck it meal.

They just make the pasta claggy and crunchy on top. Pasta isn't meant to be crunchy. Just cook it in a pan, for fuck sake.
