Hell yeah stuz. And your boss is probably going to be disappointed but understanding and supportive. Like Bill Bailey. Oh he definitely is, that's what makes it worse. We had a conversation 3 months ago about a pay rise, nothings happened, so I brought it up recently (still in the works but one of the directors is still looking to make cuts to budgets and staff etc....) He's already said, if he can't get me a pay rise, then he has my blessing to find somewhere else, which I appreciate. But my opportunity right now, is to work for more, but also in a company that is investing in renewables, I can be part of the solution and earn more money. As well as do the nice stuff like WFH at least part of the time. From my point of view, it's £150 extra a week and halving my transport costs a month. I'm actually excited for my future for the first time in a long time (if that makes sense).

Watched a street performer and a preacher try to outdo each other, volume wise, until the performer and his speakers won.

The eldest (13yro) put on Fluorescent Adolescent yesterday. And knew all the words!! That's a 180 from Taylor Swift I can subscribe to!
Now need to explain the Mecca dauber line!

Just had a call and booked an interview(first in months) for next Thursday. Been out of work for about 9 months now so i'm absolutely jonesin' for a job and for a change this is actually a job that isn't hovering ever so slightly above minimum wage. Probably don't want to get my hopes up too much but at least it'll be some practice. Now to do some research and figure out what the hell a pipe laminator does.

Pipe laminator is the nickname I gave my girlfriend in college.
Seriously though, well done getting an interview, and the best of luck with it

My uncle just got an all clear for his lung cancer (as much as it can be 'all clear' anyway) - has to go for check-ups every six months.
I'm off to the work toilet to have another cry.
Fuck cancer.

I just sold a Lego set on Marketplace and for considerably more than they go on ebay for. Didn't think it would ever go at that price frankly, not heard a dickybird for the six months it's been on. Pretty sure the cash is not fake! 🤔

Needed a new bike (been using my dad's old mountain bike since I moved back to the UK) We have rewards scheme at work and got 8% off the price and 2% cashback (should work as tracks the sale on their website) also its in the easter sale. Halfords don't seem to be in the new cycle to work scheme, also it messes with your tax iirc. Had a look at similar hybrid bike that is also carrera and seems solid enough for the price.

If it's cycle scheme & tax free i would try somewhere other than Halfords tbh.
I am a (minor) bike snob though.
Boardman bikes did some good value for money stuff though. Are they still at Halfords?
There's definitely better brands than carrera out there.

There's definitely better brands than carrera out there. They had some boardman bikes instore but starting at £600-ish (some for £480 in the sale online), I just want fairly decent bike for work (keeping the old crap bike for biking into town and nights out) Really nice bikes do get targeted in the city and the police don't bother to look into it even if the person knows who stole it
We have cycle to work with other places but the bikes from there are expensive AF

I've got some proper bloody positive news.
After 32 years in shitty IT jobs, I've finally broken out of it and just finished my first week in a self storage job.
And it's bloody brilliant. Feel like I've been reborn again ffs!
Highly recommended!

Heading out to the States early tomorrow for my nephews' confirmation and left my good suit into the dry cleaners last week so I'd have it to wear. Got a call yesterday saying their machine had broken down and it wouldn't be ready until today. No worries, I thought, I'll get it at lunch or on my way home from work. Ended up in meetings during lunch time and staying late to get some work wrapped up before I left. Walked up to the cleaners to find it closed half an hour earlier than I thought it did /o\
Knocked on the door, called a few times - nothing doing. Got home, messaged them on Facebook, got a call half an hour later saying if I could be there before 7 someone would get me sorted and lo, I have my nice clean suit. Thank fuck \o/

Both myself and my boy attended the Spring Regatta in Glasgow this weekend as part of our rowing club. He's been rowing for 2 and a half years and I started last summer. This is the sevent big competition for him and he was entered into a doubles race with his rowing partner, and a coxed quad event. I was entered into a novice doubles, a masters four and a novice four. Us adults had a brilliant time. There was no chance of us winning given our inexperience but we did far better than we hoped we would, so that was great in itself.
The main takeaway form the weekend though was the boy's races. His double started off amazingly well, both of them got a fantastic start and were out in front. They flagged a little at the 500m mark (it's a 1k sprint) and it this point, due to their lane, they were a good .5k from me at the bank. They put the power on as they planned to and by the 750m mark they were closing down on third palce. There was no way they would have missed out on it. Then. The boat tipped. They were in the water in a fraction of a second. I'm on the bank and my heart was in my throat. Because of the capsize drills we do at the club they got their feet out and were both clinging to the side of the boat as the recovery boat was speeding towards them. A few minutes later I saw them both on the boat, wrapped in foil with their racing boat strapped on top. I met them at the finish and they were all smiles. They got checked over by the medical team, showered off and that was that. I was gutted for them though. They've been training so long and so hard. They are getting better at every event and it is beginning to show. Their rowing was phenomenally tight but I know at that mark there are some nasty crosswinds. Turns out they hit a lane buoy, just caught each of their blades on that one side and it was enough to knock them in. So, that was us all til the last two races in the day. Unfortunately I was on the water in my four the same time he was in his quad, so I never saw his race. The other parents and my wife were there to see him though. By the time I'd carried my boat in I heard the announcer and thought I heard the results of his race but wan't sure. Two minutes later I found out. They got silver. The only crew they lost against are competing in the national junior masters in May, so now his crew are under consideration for being put forward as well, and he got his first ever medal after 2 and a half years of solid graft. I'm not going to lie, I was a mess.
We're both fucking knackered today mind you.

Good stuff, well done all.
One of my best mates was there in the masters stuff too (4's & 8's ) and I guess his kids would also have been rowing.

Ah cool. Yeah a heck of a lot of Aberdeen and ASRA boats there. We did race against an Aberdeen Masters 4+ but I note there were others in different bandings. Was a great weekend though. The weather was the best we could have hoped for.
