I was looking out for DD2 in PSN summer sales, failing to notice that it's £35 on disc from Amazon. That'll do.

I’m intentionally playing a few other things before I go back in for NG+ but it’s absolutely still in my mind. For me, it’s a really close run thing between DD2 and Astro Bot for my GOTY. I just don’t see anything else come close.

Told you it was good mate, I chuffin love it. I'm just rounding off the sorc vocation and then onto the last one, warfarer. My pawn is maxed and I've settled on her being a thief for the DPS after my trickster run. I'm 5 or 6 cheevos shy of the full set and then I think I'll back up this character save and start a brand new game with mods. I want to do some QOL, difficuly and randomiser stuff. Also, state of play and tgs coming up. Are we getting the rumoured dlc? Fingers crossed

*Frame rates in areas with a lot of NPCs, such as town centers, should be improved.
In addition, turning the graphics settings to low should further improve frame rates.
Players on Steam can achieve the same results from changing their graphics settings.
**You can change to Casual Mode mid-game from the Game Settings section of Options in the title menu. However, if you are already playing in Casual Mode, you will be unable to change to Normal Mode.

So cool to read your energy for it! Glad you're enjoying it. Fuck it, I'll fire it up tonight! and ... how did it go ? Well, I had a quick look, and then went on a quick wander and very quickly realised I need to sit down and dedicate some time to it, as I had no idea what was going on. Not that different to how I normally play, but still I'll try again

Tested it at lunchtime ... its definitely better. Previously I was getting a lot more dips into the 80-90s around town. Its still working the CPU mind, goes from a cool 35 at idle is to a spicy 70 when running.

That might help.
"Fixing issue where Pawns given the "Go!" command wouldn't gather items."

I've been playing with mods on now for a new game (new arisen + pawn).
Stop Selling Yourself - stops pawns grabbing attention for a hire Clear Effect Descriptions - adds values to all items +350 health, +200 stamina etc.) HD Texture Overall + Skin shader path - Updates and also prevents low res textures Food fights Fatigue - food items will restore a bit of the loss gauge AI Rings - Ads distinct art to each of the rings in the inventory Faster Dialogue Skip - as described Film Art Reshade - makes things look less yellow and dark nights are daaaark Mouse Wheel Cam Distance - camera zoom in/out on mousewheel - can config via REFramework Carry It For Me - Auto give items to pawns unless it makes them heavy Wild Loot - Takes gear from shops and puts it out in the world to find instead Less XP and Gold from quests - slower levelling and you gotta find shit to sell
The game changers ... and all of this shit just works together Custom Difficulty Tweaks - make shit difficult, enemies hit harder and debilitations can really fuck you over Monster Infighting - Enemies can suddenly turn on each other if one of their party hits them, they can just fight each other or they can all just target you. Totally random but some of the skirmishes have been crazy Random Encounters - Even more mobs types can appear together at random anywhere .. I've had a griffin fighting a cyclops while wolves were chasing me around
I'm playing with all the HUD fully off which is making it a lot more involved with listening for enemies and having to pay attention to the lay of the land, landmarks or viewing the distance to navigate around. Dark is now also totally utterly dark with the reshade and the lamp doesn't illuminate as much now.

Totally random but some of the skirmishes have been crazy I love stuff like this. I bet it's bloody brilliant in this game. Pity I haven't got it on pc. I deliberately made a skyrim character that had absolute full investment into illusion for the exact same reason. Took a while as had to find certain bits but when I'd made it, I could make practically anything attack anything else. The carnage and hilarity was off the scale I made an entire city turn into a complete free for all rumble. It was glorious.

Ive played a few short sessions of DD Dark Arisen and just been feeling my way through not sure if what I'm doing is the best approach but always comparing it to DD2 and feeling it a little basic.
This changed though when I started on the wyrms hunt series of quests for a fella in the noble quarter. I picked a quest to assist the investigation of a watergods temple that just so happened to be behind a waterfall. Anything hidden behind a waterfall piques my interest and it didn't disappoint, with a full on 'tomb raider cistern' vibe. Very very good quest.
I'm now following it up with a quest to investigate some salvation group spelunking in some catacombs.
I've nearly maxed out the assassin vocation after jumping over from strider. I found a whopping griffin great sword so given that to my pawn and kitted her out to be a warrior.

Post by quadfather on Oct 3, 2024 9:41:21 GMT
Yeah it's a bit basic compared to the second one but it's still top fun when it clicks. Yeah, I know that waterfall quest. Heavy fucking tablets aren't they?! Some of the wyrm hunt quests are great. You'll trigger some main events by doing those. Which make the nights more interesting later on Some of the side quests are good too and lead to some fairly cool loot. Catacombs springs to mind. Are you enjoying assassin? I quite liked it but I still prefer the rangers skills - ten fold flurry is just too satisfying while you double jump, uppercutting buffoons left right and centre. You should also have an eternal ferrystone which is infinite fast travel which also helps. Just need to put a few portstones down in various locations. Let me know when you get to blue moon tower And side quests can affect main quests. If you rescue one particular person for example, they'll turn up later on, exactly when you really need it.

I never maxed the strider out, I hopped over to assassin as it gave me access to a sword and then never used a sword.
I'm currently loving it at the moment, shearing wind to really close the gap, then spiderbite, pretty much one kills most mob types or if not dead I can Roundlay them or Toss & Trigger for the kill.
I've currently only got up to 5 fold flurry (just unlocked but not used yet), mighty bend and plegic arrow to slow stuff down.
I fucked up a quest to secure a fortress west of Cassardis. I only hand an ogre left in there and let the crew through the door and they got flattened. Didn't realise I'd fucked it until I turned it in to a 'whomp whomp'.
I did the temple and yeah the tablets were stupid heavy but the catacombs one also ended in a potential fail or at least curbed the progression of it. I thought I'd just scope ahead after Mason captured the monk feller and then I heard a throat slitting sound and Mason basically saying you're too soft for this work, we must part ways. I never reload for different outcomes and live with choices so err .. whatevs.
I've completed all the wyrms things now and have a chance to meet the duke? It said any quests will be finished up. Is this another abrupt ending?

Ig you've done all wyrm hunts then Duke is next. That makes things go a bit pear shaped so make sure you're ready to move on if you want to do that.
That's interesting about mason. I wonder how that will affect the main storyline. Interesting!
Later on, even more mad shit happens too, so all these weird things at the moment - I wouldn't worry so much

ok cool. i've got a 'tome' quest i want to go do first just in case it closes it off but the rest of my quest list are 'kill x things'. Found a cool cape so i'm pootling around in this. Just handed some items off to forger so I can upgrade it to max

Post by quadfather on Oct 3, 2024 12:46:25 GMT
Vaguely remember the tome quest.
Also, some of those kill x to win quests are quite good and are a) sometimes in places where there is nice loot lying about, and b) some of the quest rewards can be pretty decent too.
You've got the special dlc armour that's in your trunk in the inn yeah?

Fair do's. Just wanted to check as some people miss it.
Yeah, there are some pretty good items out there and fully upgraded makes a difference too, especially for weapons.
As a Ranger, I'm constantly on the lookout for harpy pinions!

Got DD2 on sale, 10ish hours in "oh you can use the camping kit more than once, that would've been handy to know". Almost feel as stupid as I did playing through most of Fallout 3 not knowing about the Pipboy torch.

Almost feel as stupid as I did playing through most of Fallout 3 not knowing about the Pipboy torch. you can use it multiple times unless you're attacked in the night. Remember to store it on your main pawn cos it's heavy. If you put it on a support pawn and then dismiss or swap them out the kit goes back to your stash. That's caught me out before suddenly half way up a mountain in the dead of midnight and no camping kit. Side tip, if you're laden with crap, dump it all onto a single pawn and then lob them in a river. Then hire another wandering pawn to take their place. Quick way to stash stuff 😁

I had it in a pawn so didn't realise it was still there after use. I blame the fact that when I started I managed to pick up 3 or 4 in very quick succession, so I just assigned it in my head as a consumable. Many tines so far I've been slowly making my way back to places just saving at campsites wishing I could get all my health back.
Didn't know the pawn throw in water trick either so I shall be using that too.

A 10 minute skirmish out front then turned into a jaunt across the map to Blue Moon Tower. That shit sure was eventful cos there is no camping in this meaning I arrived 2 days later (at night) and on my way in, my healing mage got carried straight off an edge by a fucking harpy. I needn't have worried though cos who should turn up, Stefan the tome guy. He literally lit it the fuck up while I wandered around the charred dogbird picking up oodles of gold and potions Game is fucking awesome.
