Any thoughts on being constantly overburdened. I’m always dancing around the heavy threshold, despite trying to hand over ore and other heavy shit to the pawns. Maybe I need to not wear mail armour, or it’s just worse if you’re a melee dude and thus want that stuff on?

Do they stack? I've not even tried the beetle yet- does it last a day or so?
I just lose stamina quicker after passing on all the real shit onto the pawn crew load haulage firm.

I thought it was permanent, but I haven’t actually checked.

Supposed to be permanent, and, yep, found about six so far. But minuscule difference.

I've found so many they just seem to be always on a tree that I pass.

Each one increases both you and your main pawns encumbrance by 0.15 per beetle permanently when used, apparently

I found my pawn was walking around holding onto a couple, ffs.

Yeah I regularly check all pawns inventory as they'll snaffle anything going. Even more so than the first game if they have that foraging trait.

Damn, I have been giving the beetles to other players pawns when they leave. I have found quite a lot over time. They're easy to find at night.
Gonna get an alternative protein source going next time I'm at the Inn to access my storage for the rest.

Make sure you put all your crafting materials in storage. They are still readily available when upgrading

Yeah that's a good point. Mobility in this is just as important as souls games as you really slow down in average weight level, never mind heavy. I'm still fine tuning my party and I'm about a sliver off very light. Got to get it under the threshold.
Need more beetles!

I said goodbye to the Archer, Peter, a rippling 2.2m tall and actually a woman (?) today. Favourited, tear in my eye.

Just done the masquerade. Off to battahl now I guess. Got loads of map to uncover here still but think it’s time to move things on a bit.

I can't help but love this game, warts and all. It's just so gloriously weird.
Earlier on, I was having a conversation with Raghnall, having sided with him during the Tensions on the Highroad quest... or at least, I was trying to have said conversation. Couldn't hear a bloody word of the dialogue, mind, as Billy was engaged in a spirited fight against a couple of Saurians about three feet away, the noise of which drowned out every word of my discussion.

A short while later, I was talking to someone else about the false Arisen's magic necklace thing, when a griffin attacked my pawns. The person to whom I was talking (or trying to - again, I couldn't hear anything that was being said) carried on, blithely unaware of the chaos unfolding around us. Then the griffin landed in the nearby water, for reasons known only to itself, and was immediately swallowed up by the Brine.

I had 16 beetles, so had a right crunchy munch. Shame i gave away so many, i thought they were a short term consumable. D'oh!
Xbox update fucked me over. Halfway through my elf mate escort thing, he was reset to the capital.
On the plus side, i wandered into the misty marsh area which was fun, but got lost. Found a griffin nest with a port crystal and all sorts which was nice. Even got a couple of ferrystones to get back to the capital quicklt. For my alternative protein source beetle feast. Hired someone's mage.
I hope my spearhabd, sorcerer, mage and thief party is balanced enough. I did swither about a fighter instead, but figured that was my spearing gig.

Casually talking to a villager whilst there’s a fucking dragon in the background setting everything on fire.

Headed out for the border checkpoint town, with a plan to uncover a few areas of the map on my way.
Ended up fighting a griffin, climbed up on its back and got flown away to its nest somewhere in the misty woods. That was a fun journey back. Not quite sure how my pawns ended up at the nest with me mind, but I’m glad they did!
I really think they’d have been better off having a very cut down main quest that just sends you to different areas in the map. The fun is definitely in the journey.
To be honest, I’m surprised this reviewed so well. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good fun to play but there are lots of weird things as mentioned in this thread that it’s getting a bit of a free pass for. I can look past it but I’m surprised it didn’t get knocked down for some of it.

In a world where everything is the same all the time, dragons dogma is a refreshing break from the norm. I'm glad that it's weird. That's its best feature imo.

Back on this and couldn't be happier.
Can't bring myself to stop being an archer, the only downside is that I do feel a bit toothless against mini-bosses.
Did a fair bit of exploring to the west and completed the Rodge quest. It's very pretty round there. Had a fight with an ogre or something (it was dark) in a ravine which was spectacular, it grabbed Duncan and proceeded to beat the shit out of me with him, which I didn't take kindly to.
The way the creatures eyes reflect light in the dark is a brilliant touch.
The beggar quest can do one, I'm just not interested. Should probably advance the main quest a bit but wandering off into the unknown is such a joy.
I was thinking about how they have stifled fast-travel, and I think it's a brilliant decision. It really encourages you to thoroughly explore an area when you get there, instead of doing the quest and pinging back to a hub because you know it's easy to return later, which in reality you wouldn't be able to do. Very immersive.
In terms of jank, for some games it just works and adds to the charm, I don't know why but this is certainly one of the those games.

The lack of fast travel really does add to the journey. I was at the border checkpoint town and because I couldn't cross the border gates found a route bypassing it and met all kinds of creatures and new places. I didn't get anywhere really, but was exploring for ages and having a blast. Ended up using a portcrystal to get out as I was in the middle of nowhere and had a quest I needed to finish off before time ran out, otherwise I would have just kept going.
The only thing is there isn't much great loot to be found from exploring, though in the afforementioned journey I did get a better bow for my main pawn which was a nice find.

Yeah don’t get me wrong, I really like it. I’m just surprised it hasn’t been highlighted more. I’ve just got through to battahl. Will have a little look around here then maybe go back to uncover more of the map. It’s so easy to lose an entire play session exploring one section of the map. Especially if you get carried off into the fog by a griffin. Got some good loot from its nest though. I’m quite liking the thief but think I prefer the archer so far. Will move onto mystic spearhand next. It’s great that the game doesn’t pigeon hole you into one vocation.

Yeah I can't decide with the vocation. I just need *something* to help with melee with the archer.
Can you upgrade the kick later on or something similar to help or is it a case of constantly repositioning?
