I'm not quite sure what it is and I'm not sure it will last (I hope it does) but I just love being in this world. In that sense it's Witcher 3 like to me.
Nothing in particular stands out about the setting or anything but boy does it feel good to be in it.
I hope I don't jinx it now but if it keeps it up I'll be pretty happy

Yeah, it's a cracking world they've created. I haven't even fast traveled yet (excluding ox carts) as I love just wandering about and uncovering new sections of map, so have a stack of 10 doodads stashed at the inn.
Paused it for a bit until the Xbox patch drops and performance has been pretty uneven, but at the same time I don't really want to lose that lovely lighting.

There'll come a time where you'll do a lot of fast travelling just because of how far things are to get to and how.you can't go more than 10 seconds without having to fight a goblin group. Also top tip; you can do escort missions using fast travel.

Meanwhile. Back in DD1. There’s THREE fucking ogres in this mine I have to kill. They’re bloody nails. Is that the ancient quarry? Yeah, you'll have fun in there mate It's worth it though for 3 reasons 1 - opens up a new area beyond 2 - when you've done it all you'll have some nice loot 3 - also when you've done it all, gone somewhere else and come back again, it turns into a safe place with merchants in selling stuff. Stick at it! The area beyond is great Did it. Bloody tough though. Kept having to revive my pawns and was completely out of health stuff.

Careful if you choose to decide to go to the next area...

For reasons, I put Ulrika in a bottle. She didn't seem overjoyed going in, but seemed fine about it when she came out. Turns out you can teleport while carrying people anyway.

Killed some people because reasons. I don't know why I've broken some kid out of jail yet but I'm sure I'll find out at some point. Felt guilty, revived the named ones. Kid free, no one cares.

Don't know if I've done something unbeknownst to me to upset them or it's a glitch but I can't set foot in the slums without the raggedy bastards coming up and giving me a good slapping. Trying my best not to eviscerate the lot of them but it seems I've really upset them, but not sure how. Anyone else had this?

Pawns have massacred them all. Half the city's dead. Shit save system means I can't go back, I didn't even do anything for fuck sake.

Have you been walking about with your weapons unsheathed...the guards etc don't like that. Maybe if you do it too long they attack?

Could be, but considering I've looted the entire city of all its valuables with nary a harsh word it seems an odd hill to die on.
Literally.

Only reason I ask is because I was being followed by guards the other day and they looked like they were about to draw their weapons, turns out I was walking about with my weapons out and as soon as I sheathed them they left me alone.

Yeah, I had a couple of guards badmouth me while I had my sword and shield out. I picked one of them up and tossed them and they didn’t seem to mind, as long as my weapons were sheathed.

The stuff around the city is definitely far less interesting that just being out and about. Like, I know this masquerade mission is going to be a PITA. Last couple of sessions I’ve just been uncovering new areas of the map and it’s been fun. It loses its way in the cities as it shows it’s issues a lot more.

Yeah, the least enjoyable parts of the game have been the main quests in the city for me. They just seem like a roadblock to unlocking more areas to go on adventures in.
FWIW the masquerade one is a very quick quest once you figure out where you're supposed to go. Pretty much just scratch your head for a minute and then watch a cutscene.

Fair enough. Assumed it would be like those other ‘stealth’ type missions from before.

The whole main quest is a complete cluster fuck to be honest, jumps about everywhere. They would almost be better off dumping it and just having a sandbox with branching mission side stories scattered around.

Had another good night last night. Now a mystic spearhand which is quite fun, but i changed my pawn from mage to a sorceror to not waste their vocation upgrades and get new augments, but now I have no healing support and am munching through the healing potions, so that was a mistake.
Will have to find one to hire now, or set them back on the support road.

I realised, having written the below, I really have issue with some of the missions. I have tried to avoid spoilers and been fairly unspecific.
One city mission - the beggar storyteller one - I didn't even do it the way the devs wanted me to. I had the mission highlighted - couldn't find the guy in the evening - and just blundered my way into a location cos I'm nosy generally and found where the mission leads you to if you follow him. My 'gamer instinct' saved me from waiting around all day which really would have been a chore (or not, if you are a gen z EG writer who seems to think "OMG, so cool, you actually have to wait for them for a realworld 40 mins before they sod off for you to follow. Cool man" Feck off.)
The masquerade one was weird as it plays a cutscene and leaves you to work stuff out - problem is the cutscene isn't well done so you see the gentleman go round the corner and um yea, and...? Cue me dawdling about until I say fuck it and started being nosy again...oh...right...that's what I should do.
The worst mission, by far, is the little shit in jail. It requires a certain, seemingly unrelated, mission in another region to have been done first before you can push it forward (but you are never told). Even then, there is an order to do stuff after that which impacts on the outcome which I have yet to do. How do I know this? Well, the Internety helped which revealed I wasn't the only one facing this daft mission with plenty of players having broken the quest to get him out.
Now I understand that the 'soulslike', no handholding thing is really, really, popular at the moment with gamers. However, there are times when just a little nudge...a tiny, miniscule, nudge would help things for us slightly older and less, 'soulslike' obsessed players.
/rant over.

Aye, I 'finished' that beggars one, but have no idea what happened. I just found some beggars garb somewhere and when I randomly bumped into them later, it was completed. I might need to search it up and see what i missed!
I haven't done the masquerade one yet, despite having all the garb for it. Maybe tonight, although my elf mate randomly grabbed me in the capital, so I'm off wandering to wherever he's needing me to go for now. It's somwehere on the edge of where I have explored to out that way, so it should be entertaining enough.

Feel free to let me know how you gamered your way through the beggar one cos I followed the twat to a slum pub and he just sat there drinking for ages. That's also about the time my pawns started massacring the locals, to circle back to one of my problems from yesterday.
The missions I've done have all been a bit rubbish. Google has been the fourth Pawn on a few of them.
