I climbed up a cliff to investigate something and my pawns decided not to follow for some reason. Bumped into some goblins. One jumped at me and I was like shit what do I do with no melee weapon. Then I remembered I could pick it up. So I threw it down for my pawns to deal with. I’ve really got to get my head around this different approach to combat.
I then proceeded to destroy the bridge I was standing on and nearly kill myself.

I didn't see any sorcerers in the rift either. Then again, I can't remember half the new classes anyway There were a few yesterday, look in the unique pawns section. There are only six vocations for pawns, all the new ones are Arisen specific.

Though saying that, I'm having an easier time with the archer today. I'm going to keep going till I hit the main capital and then reevaluate the situation I reckon.

You might need to unlock the vocation first. You can get a couple from the capital quite early.

Ah, I see in the official pawn section of the rift there are the other classes.
And, brilliant - you can hire these guys up to level 10 for free. I'm having some of that!

So err, just went on a ox cart ride to deliver a letter to Melve where I met an interesting enemy then took the ox cart back to Vernworth and took a nap and was woken up by an Ogre attacking the cart, while fighting him with my 3 pawns and the ox cart guards a Griffin, a FUCKING GRIFFIN just decided to join in out of fucking nowhere then 10 wolves joined the party. The Griffin fucked off after we staggered it twice and then had to finish off the Ogre...Oh but then ANOTHER Ogre jumped out of the forest above the path and killed the previous Ogre with a fucking dropkick, A DROPKICK, into the water and THEN we had to fight New Ogre:THE SEQUEL it was fucking insane.
God damn this game is wild.

From the first riftstone where you collect your main pawn I was able to summon a lvl 8 warrior and lvl 8 sorcerer (then changed to a mage because no healing in party) so they should appear immediately. As mentioned, use the unique pawns, they're free up to lvl 10.
I'm playing fighter but will likely change to Magick Spearhand or Wayfarer when I can, main pawn is an archer which seems to be working well so far.
Can't play until this evening now, it's agonising. Bloody family 😆😉

I reckon that motley crew will be able to cause an acceptable amount of havoc.

I like the way a hired pawn will go off in the right direction of a quest you need to do but they've already done. And then if you don't follow them, they stop and wave and you even get a signal on the minimap to check where they are.
Neat.

Don’t forget if you’re an archer you can kick. Always worth kicking. I can also, I’ve noticed, drop kick goblins off high places.

I think I'm gonna stick with pawns at or near my own level, as I already have access to a friend's massively OP main Pawn and I don't want to trivialise the game altogether!

Played a bit on portal earlier. It was fine but I think I’ll stick to the tv until I’m more familiar with it. Pretty much just arrived at Melve so looking forward to things opening up a bit soon.

Just ran into another Ogre. He grabbed my main Pawn and jumped off a cliff with him.

That's where I am Rob. Just done a quest for a chap near a well. Was quite fun. And also where I got some level 8 pawns for free, including the other classes like warrior, sorcerer etc. Make sure you check a ladder on a small ish tower not fat from the apothecary shop. Keep going up and look around carefully

Anyway I'm logging off for a fair bit now, this game is bonkers and I just changed vocation to Mystic Spearhand. I think I like it.

The DLSS 3 Frame Gen mod from PureDark works surprisingly well. It introduces some artefacts on the text above characters when you rotate the camera, and some on grass, but I'll take that for doubling the frame rate. I'm playing with a controller and as an archer, so any induced input lag isn't bothering me either. Definitely worth a try if you have the specs (I'm on a 4070 Super and i5 8600K at 4.5Ghz), and I'm getting locked 120 in the wilds and 90+ in Melve, still yet to try the big cities though.

Sounds like this is the type of game that's exactly wrong for the hours I play... I don't think the sleeping FEs will be overly impressed when I wake them up at like four in the morning with my cackling

RE archers. The default square/X attack in a bit rubbish and pea shooterish. I mainly use that for attacking weak mobs, or taking out annoying flying ones where the auto tracking comes in handy. The main attack is really R1/RB which is the aiming one.
RE clock (@spooky). From what I can tell there's no way to show it on the HUD. On the pause menu there's a circle around the map and the sun goes around that anti-clockwise (not at all confusing!). 3 o clock is morning and 9 is dusk from what I've seen unless I've misread it completely.

After a few more hours later with the archer, (and sober this time), I've managed to feel the click more with the combat.
Just got to vernmouth and will pick it up later (pissed to fuck it all up again)

Took a gamble on this based on the positive things being said about it. Got enough laughs out of how bad the preset faces are to make it halfway to worth the entry fee already.
