Did you say you start with a ferrystone quad? I don't seem to have one. In the first game, you had to find ferrystones. In the dark arisen version you start with an eternal ferrystone which never runs out (the old ones are one off items), along with some free decent armour and weapons to kick you off. If it's not in your inventory, try the storage chest at the Inn in Gran Soren. It's probably all in there. |

Two noob questions
Do the pawns heal themselves if you put the relevant healing items in their inventory ?
Also I have added a lantern to a hotkey, down on the DPAD, how the heck do I use it, as the DPAD is also used for pawn instructions?

Don’t know about normal ones but the ones from the rift go back there. I know this now because mine kept getting wiped out in that bloody well. That well is a twat for starting characters. Kicks you in the teeth straight away. Glad i avoided that then, it set off alarm bells in me |

A) give them herbs and force them to use them by selecting Help on the d pad. B) didn't even know you could hockey stuff. I just open up the inventory and just select use on the lantern. It's not really something you have to keep fucking about with. It's either not required during the day or you just have it on for ages in the night and in dark dungeons. Hence the spare oil recommendation. |

How are you new rollers doing? I've only got a few quests left before the end. I wish I was a bit further back because it'd be daft to roll a new one when the sequel comes out Friday, dammit!

I’ve got some new gear and about to head off to the witchwood as I think that’s the last quest around here. Sounds like a tough one but I’ve got my level 60 mage pawn so I’ll probably be ok!

According to Ye Olde Internete, the review embargo for DD2 is due to lift tomorrow (i.e. Tuesday) or Wednesday, depending upon which source one trusts.
I'm hoping it'll be tomorrow. Not that I need reviews to convince me to buy this one - I've already placed my order! - but a bit more hype would set the scene nicely.

Fucking hell, I just ended up doing the last quest in this again as I'd done everything. Totally forgot how fucking brilliant the last boss is, and what happens after. Been ages. Awesome! Roll on Friday!

I’m not going to complete this but it’s been useful to play to get a feel for what the new one might be like. I’m still struggling a bit with the systems and it’s obviously a bit dated, but generally I like it. I’m very selective with what I buy nowadays as I have a tendency not to finish anything. I went in a bit blind to BG3 last year and loved it. Hoping this will be the same.

I don't think I'll finish it either (hell, I've already tried once on Xbox, once on PS5 and now I'm on the switch) but I'm enjoying farting around in it again. It definitely shows it's age but it's got something so unique about it and the pawns are so fucking hilarious at times that it keeps me wanting to play it. Plus, yeah, it's tense as hell sometimes. Just arrived in Gran Soren before calling it a night.
Although, you know what. I might actually finish it this time, as I'm enjoying it on the switch immensely and it's kind of it's own thing now having it on this console. I'm not being dragged away to play something more pretty becuase in my mind this is mobile gaming and I disassociate it from other stuff. I've got a fair few trips own the road even over the next couple of months so I can see me putting a fair bit of time in. I was just sitting playing it on the couch whilst the wife and boy watched their own thing on the telly and kind of lost myself in it.
Although, erm, Dark Souls arrived yesterday. I may have rolled a character in that. May have.

I'm just glad you're all enjoying it. If the second one is really good it'll probably overshadow this one for the time being.
Yeah it's a bit dated now but I still don't care about dated graphics if the game is good. Hell, I still play everquest and you can't get much more janky than that!

Yeah exactly. Pretty graphics are good for the odd wow moment but you get used to them fairly quick and then it's up to the game itself to deliver the goods.

I finished it a few years ago and remember thinking that if they did a sequel in a modern engine it would be on my all time anticipated games list.
This is and Shadow of the Erdtree is 2024 for me.
I hope they keep the dark nights.

It's one of the best mechanics in the game, the darkness. In the original, it can be quite pant shitting in places - not just outside, but deep in some underground cave or tomb, and even if you have spare oil, in the heat of battle, you might end up getting knocked over, and if there's any water nearby, boom, out goes your lantern. You can light it again, but it can really shit you up in the middle of a fight!

Is there a stealing mechanic in this game, or is everything up for grabs? I just took a load of stuff from the witches house. |
