So did someone (probably quad) say that if they are your friends they don’t cost anything? For the ones that do, I guess the owner of the pawn gets the coins?

Wow, quad, that’s loads of info, thanks! I’d say I understood about half though Not sure about that item, I don’t remember seeing it but I’ll check again. Not sure I can upgrade or create potions yet. But I’ll pick everything up like you said. Regarding levelling, is there anything I’m supposed to do? I’m like level 6 or something but not sure if that means I have some skill points to spend somewhere at some point. So pawns are other players created pawns for their game? I missed that. Do those players then have to be online for them to be available? This is almost as confusing as souls Sorry, bit of a mind dump! But just use it all as a reference when you want to work something out. Yeah, I'd definitely check your storage box at the Inn at gran soren next time you're there - the armour and weapons you get for free in the dark arisen version will sort you out for a long time so it's a shame if you're not using them. And grab the eternal ferrystone while you're at it. You'll thank me later. As you level, you'll get ability points. You can spend these on new spells and abilities at most inns (not all). It's definitely worth checking in every few levels as you might see an upgrade to an ability you already use, so might as well upgrade it. For strider, I'd recommend trigger and toss, flurry attack and instant reset. For bows, you really want 10 fold flurry and comet shot, but they might be ranger skills - can't remember. But basically, check in now and again or look at an online guide for guidance. And don't forget to do exactly all this for your mage too! You've got to level him/her up in exactly the same way - upgraded healing spells and nukes for example. Yes, hired pawns are the equivalent of other players personal pawns. They don't have to be online - they're permanently online even if the player isn't online, so you can always hire them whenever you want to play. And you can dismiss them and give the owner gifts if you want. This is how you trade items online with mates. Just hit stuff mate

Friends pawns are free, regardless of their level. I'd recommend exploiting this just for the laughs it brings. The other owner doesn't get any coins or riftstones - it just costs you the riftstones for the pleasure of their pawns help in your party.

I am not forum user Quadfather, and his knowledge of this game dwarfs my own, but I'm fairly sure I can answer this one: no, they don't. You can hire pawns regardless of whether their creators are online or not.
It's a really cool system, actually - pawns gain quest experience from adventuring with other players, which can be helpful when you next boot up the game to find that someone has been using your pawn in the meantime.
Also, you can send little messages/gifts to the owners of pawns you discharge from your party, which is a nice touch.
Yeah, forgot this, good shout. When you hire a pawn that the owner of which has already completed a quest that you haven't, you'll see a red question mark above their head and they'll give you advice about the quest as they've already done it with their owner. Pretty cool, huh?

Just started it, having bounced off it a long time ago. Never got my noodle around the idea of pawns
S'kay so far, stuck on that road getting mobbed currently, that's not fun.

And, even more of a bonus, other players can hire YOUR pawn, even while you're playing, in the same way you hire theirs.
And they might gift you with decent items. Every time you log in or rest at an Inn, the server will do a check, and if someone has hired your pawn, you'll hear them say, "I've learnt new experience" or some shit, and you might have some gifts and a rating about how your pawn did.
Even cooler, huh?

RobEG you're on my friends list, so if you go to the rift, you should see a mage under my psn tag name. His name is Uncle Vyrt, or maybe just Vyrt. He's a huge black guy with a massive 70's gold moustache. He should be about level 62 ish. Hire him for free mate, honesty, you'll have a right laugh Though he is a mage and you've already got a mage but it still might be fun

Yeah, it's a bit poo, that bit, but you're not far from freedom. Hit gran soren and you're free to go maim and kill shit for fun.

Fuck it, go for it. He's a good mage honest! You could always change your main pawn to something else like a warrior or something and use vyrt for nukes, buffs and healing. There are no rules - that's half the beauty of it. Just go fucking smash shit up however you please

Oh, and once you hit level 10 as a strider you can then respec into a different character. I always go strider then ranger because I'm an arrow whore, but you could do anything really - assassin, mystic Knight, whatever you want. If you're serious and want to min/max which I'm sure you're not fussed about, but I'll mention it anyway - if you went sorcerer yourself for levels 11-20 you'll gain some magic abilities, which can actually help later on if you then switch back to something that uses spells but is a different class. But I reckon you should just start hitting stuff tbh

Yeah I think I activated easy mode there.
Met the lady on the pier and went to some other place. Not sure this is for now or later.

I think that's...
(spoiler tag in case you'd rather not know)
... the DLC. If the place at which you ended up was called Bitterblack Isle, it's definitely the DLC.

Wunty is spot on. And that place is really hard. Might wanna skip that mate Unless you're well up for it, and in that case welcome to a challenge. (Don't got there before about level 40 though, it's really hard) I'm just happy other people are playing it. It's so cool. Go kill bandits first, and randomly stumble onto some tombs. You'll have loads of fun there
