Tough one this, looks amazing but I’ve no tolerance for 30fps anymore., especially in an open world setting. Fingers crossed that unlocked framerate and VRR feels good.

The first game completely passed me by but these previews are suggesting this could be a GOTY contender.

It's why I'm hoping the pc version is decent, I should be able to brute force 60 even if it's not amazingly optimised.
Really looking forward to giving this a go and I should have like a dragon done in the next few days to clear up my single player schedule.

VRR won't do shit when the frame rate is as low as that unfortunately I don't think they've mentioned the actual typical framerates, just that it's unlocked. It was part of my excuse for upgrading my TV, so it had better bloody well work!!!  I'm hoping the demo rumours are true so I can test out the different versions before making my mind up. Nearing the end of P3R so my schedule should be nice and clear aside from Balatro (think I'm over the hump of my addiction with that thankfully) |

Never got on with the first game, the pawn thing was weird, I know I am a heretic.
New one looks interesting, if a little framey in combat.
Might succumb to the hype nonetheless, looks expansive

Re the VRR question, I think XBOX Series X can implement VRR on any frame rate as low as 20fps. I think you may have to be in 120hz mode but if you have VRR on your TV that shouldn't be a problem.

Ok, looks like Low Frame Rate compensation kicks in when below 40hz (as long as 120hz is enabled) on Xbox. Supposedly this works on ranges from 20 to 40hz and results are good.

Very much looking forward to this and definitely getting it day one. I absolutely loved the original.
I am intending to go for the Mystic Spearhand vocation for my main (whenever and however I can unlock it!), and will probably start out as a Fighter to begin with. Melee combat in the first game was great and the gameplay videos so far look ace.
My Pawn will probably start out as a Mage and progress to Sorcerer - which is what I did in the first game and always served me well.
I’m definitely intrigued by the Trickster and Warfarer vocations which look like they’d really shake up the gameplay options for any NG+ runs… and Dragon’s Dogma is pretty unique in my gaming experience for being a game I loved enough to complete three times over (twice on PS3, once on Switch). If this is even nearly as good (and it looks even better so far!) I can see this earning its place on my PS5 for a long while to come.

I really enjoyed the first game, but I didn't love it - probably a 7.5/10 experience for me, all told.
That said, the sequel has been firmly on my radar since it was first announced, and I'm very much looking forward to its arrival. |

10/10 doesn't mean perfect imo but I do think it has to be in a pretty exclusive bucket of 5 - 10 of your favourite games ever to be that.
There is no doubt in my mind that there are N64, PS2 and 360 games that are absolute 10/10s for me but none of them are perfect.
Edit: I started listing games and then thought better of it. On the flip side I never managed to get into the orriginal DD but it always interested me. By the time I bought it, I never got around to putting in the time. Looking forward to a chance to get in at the ground floor here. It would be remarkable if Capcom smashed it out of the park again, they're on a phenomenal run.
