Haha yeah it's a good hat that one. And that's the largest character you can get. Pro tip: larger characters can carry more before they start getting overburdened. Give everything heavy to your pawns and keep yourself as "very light" as much as possible. Don't forget to retrieve the items from pawns before you release them to the rift.
What level was he out of interest?

For me he was showing up at 35 I think.
Ah... I'd forgotten that. I should have made a great big hulking pawn as my main instead of a silly little waif.

Hm. Wonder why it's showing the lower level one. Odd.
Still, level 35 healer and buffer will come in handy regardless

Maybe I need to do something makes the cloud version updated or something. But I downloaded the save to my ps5 and it updated my ps5 with the 51 level. Very odd.

I think my level 51 guy has 2 hired pawns in their 90s. Fuck it. It's hard enough later on as it is so I'll take all the help I can get

There were a couple of 90s pawns even in the bit I was looking at. I may be back for one of them as well!

I tried dismissing and rehiring him in the Rift, to no avail; I also closed the game and reloaded my save, but that didn't work either.
I haven't turned on the PS5 today, though, so I'll try again this evening.
He's a great addition to my party in any case - especially with that killer 'tache/hat combo! - so I'm not too concerned, and I certainly don't want to put you out.

Just glad he's being useful!
Yeah the rift is great. You can just kit anyone out, it doesn't matter and the game is 100% about fun anyway
I'm still going to fuck about with vyrt to see if I can sort it though

I really hope they keep the goofiness intact in the sequel - it just wouldn't be the same without the pawns yammering on incessantly, picking up loot before you can get to it, and generally adding an air of levity to the proceedings.

Yeah it's a tricky one. If they leave it the same, it might be same old same old, but if they take it out, it's going to make it weird. They should up the ante in my opinion

It's hilarious. Particularly as I now have big Vyrt in his silly hat blundering around the place and commenting on fucking well everything.

Haha
You can sit him in a learning chair if you want and tell him to be quieter
Though I find he just ignores me and does his own thing anyway. I'm quite used to him getting in the way and generally flailing around. I fired it up last night to check that save thing again, and as soon as it loaded, he just wandered off and kicked fuck out of a box

That reminds me. Inclinations are quite important in the game. It makes the pawns (only yours) change behaviour and this can be vital depending on the pawn and its job. It's all here - dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Pawn_InclinationSo for example, you probably don't want an offensive warrior to have the guardian Inclination, as it will just try and guard you all the time. You can check what Inclinations they have in the menu somewhere

Loving the reborn Dragon’s Dogma chat here… it makes me sorely tempted to give it another spin - I’ve completed the main game 3 times and the Dark Arisen / Bitterblack Isle content once and still feel I could find something new there.
On Pawns, I’ve always tended to have my pawn as a Mage, set up to offer healing spells, cures and buffs. Staying alive is key, so it’s just best if you can control that setup yourself and not rely on other players’ builds too much.
The other two recruits are there to compliment my main character - so whether I go for a melee (tank), ranged or attacking magic role (or any of the hybrids), the two pawns specialise in the other functions.
Argh, I know I started a NG+(+?) run on Switch a while back… I’m also tempted to boot it up and see where I’m at…

killerbeeThat's exactly how I run my party too, find it works really well. Haha, have you been dragged in too now then? Also, I too have a switch version of it. I wonder where I am on that.... Oooo

It's just one of those games that if it clicks, you've only got to mention it and you roll another character

quaddy was vyrt about in the 360 era? The name rings a bell. I loved Dragons dogma, and still regret never finishing it as I got the revised edition just as the newer gen was coming out. Put a load of time into it, but swapped to PS4 before I had got to the end, which I don't think was too far away. Used lots of pawns from EG, sending them back with a bit of decent loot if possible, or a rock in the pocket if they were too high levelled for anything I had on me.

I'm sure Vyrt was also in Yharnham at one point. Possibly on holiday.

Ah, if it's a stock name for quaddy characters, then aye, maybe have encountered them in bloodborne/DS/Elden ring type things.

I definitely had him on the og ps3 version.
I've just fired up my switch version and I'm level 55 in Bitterblack. Though looking at the quests I'm still in the middle of doing the wyrm hunt quests so I must have come here early to check something out.
Haha its Vyrty on this console!
I got the name from an npc you can hire in eye of the beholder 3. There is a guy called Uncle Vyrt in that. Massive beard if I remember right.

So my choices are, play on ps5 level 51 where I think I've done the dragon or switch console for lev 55 bout half way through the quests.
Or start again
Or wait a week and start zelda
Or play one of the million other games wunty keeps mentioning and reminding me of
I should do deadspace really.

I don't get this. My ps save has got dragonforged equipment, but the quests are only up to the hydras head which is near the start.
Yet the map is filled in with all relevant important areas filled on, but direct routes, and the map isn't fully filled in.
So that tells me I'm in ng+?
But surely not at level 51.
How do you tell which ng you're on?

Post by quadfather on May 3, 2023 16:31:55 GMT
Ah.....
If you completed the game and loaded that save and the game restarted as new then you're in new game+. If you loaded the game and your quests are still the same state as before then you are not in new game+. Quick way to check is if Mountebank in Gran Soren sells portcrystals. If he does, then you're in new game+.

You've got it - that's NG+.
I think I'm going to go to The Black Cat in order to forge the upgrade item I require. No idea whether I can fast travel there, but if not, I'll probably be able to one-shot most enemies I encounter en route!

Right. Nice one. I think the switch version is in a similar position. Christ, how many times have I completed this!
Also, is your pawn called bufty?
I might as well just faff on the ps5 version then, as all the quests are reset and aren't a nightmare to read when you get too many. Plus! I've got the wychwood quest so if I do that now before moving it on, it won't fail.
