I seem to have played a lot of games since I finished this in 2020, during the first lockdown, so I felt pretty disoriented when I first loaded it up. That feeling lasted until I accidentally conversed with one of my pawns while trying to loot a chest:
"If you lose your way, you need but consult your map."
Ohhh! Now I remember.
Many thanks for the tips, quadfather - I think I'll have a crack or two at the Gazer, while I'm there anyway, and then try to respec my main pawn as discussed.
I believe I have an Eternal Ferrystone, yes. As for dragonforging my weapons, the longbow and daggers are both forged to level 1, but I don't have the upgrade mats to get them any higher; moreover, as I had to start NG+ in order to get to Bitterblack Isle, I don't think farming for materials would be as straightforward as I'd like. (For instance, I need some of this in order to strengthen one of my weapons, but it seems hard to come by outside of one particular quest.) |

Long term, the thing that always bugged me was that the additional pawns don't level so you periodically have to replace half your party at the Pawn's Guild.
I suppose you could treat this as part of the RPG experience and just work with whomever turns up. I always ended up refreshing endlessly looking for the perfect replacements. Looks right? Check! Right level? Check! Requisite skills? Refresh again!
The weird thing is that despite pawns having little in the way of characterisation and personality, I missed the ones I had to leave behind. So many games put effort into giving characters a personality and I get attached to the disposable placeholders. I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to tag-a-long characters I wish could permanently eject but can't.

Took me a few bloody goes to drop it, whilst constantly reviving my squishy pawns. You can forge that item once I think which actually gives you the real item as opposed to a forged one. Might help. I'd definitely recommend having a buffing and healing mage. The difference with and without buffs is pretty much night and day. To the point I'll instantly notice if my weapons aren't buffed within 1 or 2 hits. What daggers and bow do you currently have? |

I've got a weird thing going on where the ps4 save is level 51 but the ps5 save is 35. The cloud version appears to be the 35 save. But I've told my ps4 to overwrite it with its save. So let me know which level the guy is |

I recruited him at level 35, but I should be able to remedy that by going back into the Rift - will let you know.
You certainly didn't exaggerate the magnificence of his moustache!
My first few attempts at beating the Gazer all ended in miserable failure, I'm afraid. The closest I got to doing real damage was the time I managed to get inside him [KennethWilliams.gif] and attack his eyeball with my daggers; however, it's not a reliable means of approaching the fight.

It's a nightmare battle. Definitely one of the hardest I've come across so far. Even the ur dragon wasn't as difficult albeit more a battle of attrition.
Yeah, try and get Vyrt again now, it should be 51

I thought it was going to be a fairly quick post-game DLC, like Hearts of Stone - some tough enemies, compared to the base game, but nothing for which you'd be unprepared if you had rolled credits on the campaign. Damn you, Wunty! Why did you make me do this? |

The good news: I beat the Gazer! (One man's cheap cheese strat is another's fair and viable approach, after all.)

Hm that's odd. Have you tried removing him and then saving your game, loading it and going to the rift to search again today rather than yesterday just in case there's a weird / sync issue?
