The trailer has had almost 60 million views in 11 hours. That is crazy. Is GTA now the biggest 'thing'? 5 is the second only to Minecraft in the best selling games of all time, it’s not just “now” the biggest thing

So Q for you lot. GTA 6 releases at £100 price for "standard ed" do you purchase ? I would think a lot of stamping of feet and a bit of an outcry if they do. It will never stop the whales obviously. Personally I would boycott. £70 is already too expensive.

What is the actual reason here? The PC isn’t a set walled garden and therefore needs more development and QA? Somebody like DF will probably pull that video apart but I'm fairly confident that it was PC footage and not console because some of the lighting and shadow detail for that number of assets on screen is a bit high. Calling it now though, 30fps max on current gen consoles and probably some of the density will be pared back Agree with it being 30fps on consoles. Probably why they are releasing it so late in the generation. They can save the definitive edition release on the next gen consoles and the next one after that.

Got enough great games already to see me through to 2030. I'll buy it then @ £70 once everyone has finished it and its fully patched up!
However if they release a £150 B*tches Ain't Shit edition with the seminar cover of Mr Ben Folds... take my money...

The women there apparently have zoomed out waists and zoomed in hips, looks a bit odd, maybe it’s a meta-y Kardashian thing. 30fps is absolutely going to break my heart. ?? As in Miami beach women? Yeah they actually look like that though. The mannequins in the shops even have big fake boobs and bums. As in that, yep. +1 for realism I guess!

Unless you're running it on a PS5 Pro. and you get the true 4k native but still 30fps cos pretty init

With development generally, they’ll be running it through a PC built around a console’s spec, but with enough wiggle room to cope with the lack of, or unfinished optimisation. I’m sure at this late stage most of the optimisation is already complete, but this trailer won’t reflect that. It’ll have been spruced up purely from a marketing perspective. Perhaps something they are still aiming for, but it won’t be the same.
I fully expect the npc count to be noticeably less than the trailer suggests, too. Also, the map seems to have some big, open, and empty landscapes, so general city density will be lower in most places, leading to an improved performance.
Honesty, this only looks a smidge better than RDR2, but that game still looks stunning.

I’m a GTA Online apologist, so I’d be tempted by a cheaper online-only edition like they eventually did for GTA (V) Online. I can wait for a price drop for the single player, but I’ll probably want to be in the new online day 1.
No way they’ll do online-only though, unless maybe they tie it to a subscription? We’ll see.

Meh. Nothing beats GTA IV or the trilogy, for me. V was absolute cack, compared to the previous games.
Also fuck off the start of every mission being "drive to this place now please".

I haven’t played a GTA since GTA2. Man I wish they would release the first two GTAs on modern consoles.

5 being 'absolute cack' sure is a hot one. I can see (if I squint) that some would find the main storyline a bit tiresome, but its an astonishing world just to mess around in.

Not sure why I’ve never got into them. I’ve owned all of them as well. Might try and fire V up and see if it clicks.

I've enjoyed GTA since the original but do people really hold them up as their favourite or best games of all time?
Each to their own and all that but once I've played a GTA game (and thoroughly enjoyed it) I never really go back to it.
Maybe it's the size or open-world nature.

I was surprised how good the graphics looked in this. One of the few handful of games you can look and say it definitely looks next gen.
Can't say I've ever been that fussed on the GTA games though. Vice City was probably the best, mostly because cruising around fake Miami with 80s pop blaring out your car never got old. It felt shit to control back then, but managed to deal with it. San Andreas was incredible for its scale, but it was a game that took forever to get going and I never particularly liked the main character, same with the subsequent games. The mission structure has always been tedious, maybe slightly improved in V, but still dated (to be honest, I've not played huge amounts of it, so maybe it gets better as it goes on).
Would probably be more interested if they said they were doing an RDR3, but I'll probably pick this up eventually when it comes to PC and goes on sale.

I love how we’ve been saying “OMG it looks almost photorealistic” about new games for probably thirty years now. That line will just never stop moving.

4 and SA being better than 5 is madness. But then they have all been great in different (and often the same) ways and this will obviously be a day 1 purchase.
Shame it's such a wait, and that it will be near the end of the generation (but not quite the release of the next). I guess they want it out on this lot, with an inevitable next-gen version bringing in a second helping of cash. Release at the start of a gen, and the next gen may be a harder sell, but then V has straddled 3 so maybe not.
Saying that - we might not even get real gen leaps from Sony and MS now, they might just go for the + consoles, and then ++. Now we have (near) instant loading, unless it's a radically different experience they are going for (i.e. VR or waggle), then what's left other than visual uplift and more processing for bigger worlds?

Now if Rockstar would be so kind to quietly drop a 60fps patch for RDR2 that would be appreciated!

Full on Ps5 upgrade for RDR2 would be nice of them while we wait for this to come out.
Wish I could do a memory wipe of RDR2 so I can play it again fresh. Incredible game.
