We bought a de-humidifier to deal with condensation issues caused by cavity wall insulation. It turns out they are also REALLY good for drying clothes.

Yeah, dehumidifiers are great. Well, unless you run it for too long and end up getting static shocks any time you touch anything.
Pretty pricey to run, though. Ours sucks something like 300w and it's considered a low energy one.

Buy/grow a bag of chilli's and freeze them. Then simply grate them using a cheese grater (from frozen,) into meals as required. Easier to use, last forever.
You can do this with herbs such as basil and coriander too.
You can also freeze peeled bananas, let them go brown first and they go a bit like a banana sorbet.

Turn your pants inside out and wear them for an extra day. Cuts down on the washing

In Sweden at the moment you can get trial weeks of Hello Fresh for next to nothing. I paid about 20 GBPs for 5 x four portion meals. Stupendous value for money.

And when the weather is milder, we open windows instead obviously.

One thing I discovered during the pandemic was zoflora. You use 1 tsp of the stuff per 400 ml and we use it to top up bottles of spray disinfectanct. Works out way, way cheaper than buying disinfectant sprays (like dettol) and its much more effective than most as it actually kills covid which most disinfectants don't.
We also use liquid soap dispensers which foam the soap. You have to pay for the dispenser (about £10-15) but then you dilute the liquid soap (1 in 5) and you use a lot less as well as its a foam. Theres the added benefit of not having to touch something that everyone else has been touching previously (as its motion activated).
Looking at my house's energy rating, the best thing I can do is ensure every bulb I have is low energy. It estimates this will cost £72 and save £54 a year. I think most are, but I think one or two might be old styles (like the attic).

I used to hang used fruit teabags over the toilet. If that helps.

My missus was seriously considering selling her farts in a jar when she saw what that woman was making. I warned her the slight drawback is prolapsing to meet simp fart jar demand, but she would not be put off. Just up the price to put off the sub-£1000 a jar cheapskates. They can get their bargain basement farts round the back of the supermarket bins.

Asking work for more money or moving to a higher paid job (if any of that is possible).
Stop smoking.
Er, dunno, is this high inflation due to last in 2023, or will it be under control by then?

Buy a raspberry pi (circa £30) and install pi hole. It works as a dns server for your local network and there are loads of blocklists out there for ads and other things. I don't see ads on YouTube, or the itv/C4/uktv apps on my smart TV, or on any of my consoles. How does it fit into the network? So for example if my PC's directly plugged into the router, does it still work with that?

My TV is also plugged into my router.

So if saving rates are still low and inflation high! Really you should be spending / investing any surplus cash.

Just wiped out most of our savings to knock a chunk off the mortgage. Will be fine as long as nobody loses their job in the next few months.
Would live off beans for a while but they seem a bit expensive now

You tell your router to use it as a DNS server, so it works for everything on your network. This, mine just plugs directly into the router. I also installed an open source VPN (wireguard,) on the Pi so when I'm out of the house my phone uses the VPN to connect to my home internet and so the ads still get blocked.
We're getting a bit off topic, might start a Pi-hole thread...

Feel all virtuous as I've been around the house and ensured every bulb is now a low energy bulb. Also swapped out a couple of "low" energy bulbs that turned out to be anything but when I checked them. Highest I've got got now is a 10w one in the bedroom.
Hopefully it will help.

Auto outside floodlights can be easily forgotten too. We had a 300w halogen one that triggered all the time due to shared access with neighbours and them having random fuckers coming and going all the time.
Replaced it with a 10w LED one that still did a decent enough job.

Thanks. I remembered the external lights. Worst offender was a 60w bulb which I replaced with an 8W. The other two were already 6W,

Alternatively choose a house with streetlights just outside.

It's one of those auto ones and I only run it during the winter to help with condensation towards the back of the house.

Or find some fireflies.
The price of condensing dryer is starting to come down quickly, it’s worth keeping an eye on the price of them but not worth upgrading until the current one you may have breaks. Also only use a dryer if you have children, for singles or couples just hang it up.

Instead of using a dehumidifier buy a sack of charcoal and leave a small bag of the stuff in any moist rooms. Swap it around occasionally and stick it in the oven to dry it back out.
It also keeps moths away because they get their hopes up there’ll be fire but then die due to disappointment.

Those cheap overnight tariffs are coming back thanks to smart meters. We have one from octopus that’s cheap from midnight to 4;30am. Ideal for charging the car. We have that too. Luckily renewed it before they put the price up in January.

As soon as you get your salary you should put away a percentage of it to a savings account. This way if you get less or more money some months, you have flexibility in the system, AND putting the money aside when you actually have them makes meeting savings goals much easier.
