Could end up running off with them after only 10 days and then becoming her carer after she's become partially blind.

There was a guy not long ago who ran off with a Ukrainian refugee after a very short time, but I hadn't heard about the second part. Not someone from FG though.

www.theguardian.com/business/2022/aug/15/centrica-and-octopus-back-plan-to-freeze-uk-energy-bills-for-two-yearsTwo of the UK’s biggest energy suppliers have thrown their weight behind a plan being debated in the industry to devise a fund that could freeze customer bills for two years. The British Gas owner Centrica and Octopus Energy are understood to support a scheme that would create a multibillion-pound facility to spread the cost of an emergency funding package over a decade, the Guardian can reveal. Their fellow suppliers ScottishPower and Eon have presented plans to ministers for the “tariff deficit fund” underpinned by a government guarantee. Under the proposals, first reported by the Sunday Times, commercial banks would put cash into the state-backed fund, which suppliers could then draw on to fund measures to freeze customers’ default-tariff bills at the current price cap, £1,971, for two years. The cost of the scheme would then be paid back over 10 to 15 years through a surcharge on bills or via taxation.

Truss' two braincells are frantically bouncing off each other to figure out a way to make this seem like her idea.

The tories will ignore it, I’m sure shell or BP will oppose it but the tories will figure out an increase will line their own pockets somehow. Alternatively they’ll ignore it until next year then roll it out to try to win votes with their 50% cut in costs.

Well if they have to raise taxes to cover it, Truss will be a ‘hard no’ won’t she.
Until a day later we all find out we’ve mischaracterised her words, and yes, she will be implementing it, how dare anyone suggest otherwise, you woke motherfuckers.

Ah, thanks danno. It gets madder. This bit "The ex-tattoo artist said Sofiia could work in beauty or IT as she finishes the final modules of a university management qualification." Eh? Pretty sure no one wants a blind person doing their eyelashes.

Or maybe they could just absorb the cost out of their fucking massively increased profits, the cunts. Or just get fucking nationalised.

Here in sunny Spain the government are actually doing some governing!
They are covering the increase in petrol prices by paying 20 cents per litre. Just filled up the car. Cost per litre, at the pump, €1.71. Actual price you pay, €1.51. Which is expensive for Spain, 3 years ago we were paying around €1.30. Still at least it's something!
Everything else is still cheap as chips, though, compared to the UK.

Why in fucks name does the standing charge go up when the cap goes up? That is pure profit pretty much. Their should at least be legislation that stops that from happening. Otherwise even if you use less you'll pay more.

We asked Ofgem this question, and it told us the rise is due to:
The cost of moving everyone whose firm went bust to new suppliers.
Increases in fixed network costs (the cost of maintaining the energy networks).
An increase in policy costs (such as green levies and the rise in the warm home discount rebate).

The first one is done now. The second one is bullshit The third one is down to the government so the cunts can do something about it. They really are taking the piss. Literally, people won't be able to drink or eat enough to piss.

I think the first is ongoing and will be there for a while but it shouldn’t be a big part.
General costs shouldn’t go up by more than inflation, so there should be a small increase in that.
None of them are a good reason for a big increase.
