sToP dRagGInG BrItAiN dOwN.
If a man (or a woman, if they're inclined, by crikey) isn't free to become a 21st century feudal property lord and exercise his right to droit du seigneur in order to decide which feckless prole gets to the front of his tenancy queue, well, I don't know where we've ended up.
Madness.

I wish I could pay my mortgage by shagging some old crone at the bank, I would be much better off.

My heart bleeds for him, he only has 37 property sales to fall back on. Exactly my reaction. Read about two paragraphs and closed it.

It's the Telegraph, what did you expect? I'm sure they actually ran a story recently about a guy complaining how much it costs now to fill up his Porsche Cayenne and that it jolly well wasn't cricket.

It's the Telegraph, what did you expect? Very little, but it's still frustrating to read about these shitheels and their lack of awareness of how they impact society at large, coupled with their victim bullshit at having to treat people like.. you know, people.

Putin will fuck Germany into the ground with Nord Stream and there isn't anything we can do about it until everyone cycles up their alternatives to minimise their dependence.
Importing a fuckload of liquefied gas isn't going to do much either, on its own, but it will make the reliance on Russian gas as minimal as possible.
We're not going to see a way out of this energy and inflationary crisis for years. Not for fucking years. God job I've got my crypto wallet all ready for this eventuality...
Wat? MAH CRYPTOES!?!

Of course, Russia could go belly up before then: apparently Putin has been using all sorts of smoke and mirrors to disguise the effect the economic sanctions have been having. So, it could turn out nice again, I'd like to be able to turn my immersion on occasionally.
Just not for Russia. Or Ukraine. Um.

If Russia cuts supply, which increases prices, doesn't that hurt us more than Russia? If the price increases they're getting the same income, but we're paying more for less?

'Interesting' to also see how they're going to hire 500 more call centre staff to deal with higher call volumes from people struggling to pay their energy bills. I mean, c'mon, they're just trolling the country now, oh and the CEO has kept mum about a whether or not he'll be giving himself a bonus this year. Great times.

I think I saw it on Reddit but someone pointed out, when wages are stagnant and companies are all posting record profits then this isn’t true inflation, it’s companies fucking everyone over because they can.

It really is disgusting how they call this an energy crisis and yet they're making more money than ever before. It's not really a crisis if your profits are increasing is it?

The prices would still be increasing significantly but they’re adding a lot more on top to maximise profits. I’m sure politicians going on about a windfall tax but then not doing it also contributes to that as well.

Well, it's not a crisis for them. Disaster capitalism loves a good opportunity for short term gains, so recent times have been a halcyon age for them. Their salad days, making hay whilst the sun shines and other annoying metaphors. For the rest of us, there's definitely a looming possibility of an unpleasant winter and uncertain future.

I'm not sure about that, things are very bleak for these companies, I hear executives are finding it extremely difficult to pay for their 10th holiday home.

That's the real tragedy of our system. Those who profit from the suffering of others can later buy land and squeeze even more out of the poor chaps. If they could only use their ill gotten gains for Bentleys and yachts, I would mind less, but those fuckers buy the apartment complex I live in and then raise rent to fuck me over even more.

Pffft you guys just don't GET finance.
It's purely coincidental that they are making record profits. They clearly show how their clever strategies are the source of these massive revenue streams.
Sure it's a BIT weird that it's coincidentally happening with multiple energy companies but there's no way they'd be dishonest and defraud their customers!

I was reading about how Ofgem have basically wanked this all up for ages and are a joke now.
Having worked in the civil service for ten years, it doesn't surprise me.

Prices go up, cost of production don't, profit.
What should be happening is a windfall tax on these companies. This was supposed to be happening but you know the cunt that's currently PM is about as reliable as a chocolate dildo.
