No, but I do remember late 00s Tesco Value noodle pots. Think they cost about 19p, and tasted as such.

Beggars can't be choosers imo.
A whole slab of baked beans for under a quid. Ridiculous. I think that was Kwik Save.

Off topic, but was it here/EG where someone had a rant about how instant noodles aren’t “instant” or am I half remembering things from somewhere else and/or a fever dream?

I definitely reminder a rant that we should all be eating Soba noodles so that we eat authentic Japanese food.

It was something weird about how it actually took a few minutes to soften and prepare, so it wasn’t “instant”

Any other students of the early 90s remember the great Baked Beans wars? 3p a can for supermarket own. What a time.to be alive. More money for beer imo. I do, there were 3 of us sharing a large studio flat and we practically lived on them. They went down to 1p at one point.

As much as I love soba noodles, my foodwankertwatrants have not yet covered them. I could post some soba photos from my collection instead if you like...

Sounds like an early 90s BBC sitcom.

Tesco sold enough toilet paper, air freshener and bleach to offset the beans loss leader

I sometimes make a kind of tuna salad with ramen. Make noodles, chuck away the water and stir in tuna, sweetcorn, mayo and whatever bits of salad stuff you have lying around. It's quite filling and used to be reasonably cheap.

Fucking hell, 3 guys in a studio flat eating nothing but tins of 1p beans. Yeah, some of us have actually had some tough times in our lives but still made the most of them. It was either that or being homeless so it seemed the better option.

Tuna has been bordering on £1 for a decent sized tin for a while too actually. Definitely not the cheap protein it used to be. I'd hate to have to feed a family in this.

Going veggie 3-4 days a week definitely seems a fair option these days. Really glad I have hobbies that don't require electricity, too. I turn pretty much everything off at the socket now and the only things left running are Wifi and boiler, when I'm working.
