Got a cost of living payment at work, very welcome. Until I realise I’ve lost 530 quid of it through extra taxes and student loan payments! That’s almost bloody half of it!

A good fraction of the shelves in Tesco were empty again this morning.
The lovely till lady even gave me my English round lettuce for no charge, as it was one of the last two in the shop, and both were looking pretty ropey.

Pensioners set to get 10% next spring - can’t think why the Torries pander to them 🙄

Merseyrail have given in pretty much straight away to TSSA and given all staff a 7.1% rise. ScotRail have done almost the same. Transport Wales already agreed a decent rise.
Makes the government, sorry, NR holding out against RMT seem pretty churlish.

All of our people think they’re getting 5% but they’re getting 2.5% unless they’ve been amazing. The email that went out was really unclear but the boss at the top has interpreted it that way. Apparently I’m getting more than 5% but I’ll believe that when I see it.

I don't even pay attention to my pay rises anymore. It's always frozen, or 1% or maybe 2% max in the last ten years. I'm not even sure. Meanwhile my friends in the banks moving numbers on a computer screen get massive bonuses and big pay rises.
I said I'd definitely never have any more kids but my partner to trying to convince me and if I do I can quit work etc. Very tempting just so I can quit the shitty NHS. Currently it's taking cat 2 calls a few hours just to get to the patient let alone get them into the hospital. Plus loads of the ambulance crews are just crews like St. John members. If you ever need to get to a hospital call a taxi, don't call 999 unless you are literally going to die within minutes from blood loss etc.

I have never had a pay rise. It's always been "want a pay rise? Change job"

I'm not in RMT, but my respect for Mick Lynch has gone up leaps and bounds. He's walked all over every bloviating empty shirt on TV that I've seen today.
I might fuck off my union and join RMT.

Someone on twitter made the very good point that he simply knows his subject very well and he's coming up against people that only have a superficial understanding of the issues.
I'm loving it to be honest.

He sums it up himself.
Every strike the party sends out generic Ministers to appear on tv (who only have briefing notes) to accuse and obfuscate.
His skill is in not interrupting or shouting and instead he let's them babble on before pointing out the most blatant fallacies.
He's a refreshing change from media training 101.

Having just sat through David Mellor and then James Fucking Dyson interviews on the radio about how this is all our fault and proles shouldn't ask for more money and if only we were cleverer like them, there wouldn't be any cost of living crisis, if that pair accidentally smashed into each other at 200mph and formed some horrible melting composite of a human that resembled Emil from RoboCop post toxic-waste dip, I don't think anyone would shed a tear.
Pair o' cunts.

Dyson, in particular, is a stinking fucking parody of a poshboy cunt of a hypocrite. Seriously, fuck him and his overpriced, over-engineered let's do brexit, oh bye skidmark of a company.
Sorry, I'm quite angry today.

That's what we want to see. A good debate between the Prime Minister and the Chief Sec of the RMT. Mick Lynch vs. Boris Johnson Lynch Johnson.

Lynch would just walk all over him because he doesn't give two fucks who you are if you come in and try to bullshit your way through a cynical, patently transparent PR agenda. All Boris can do is bullshit. I'm quite sure he didn't do Classics at Oxford, it was just Pure Bullshit. youtu.be/rmLAj9iIfQk

RMT supported Brexit for the same far left reasons that Corbyn did. I don't agree with it, but it is a mega leftie thing.

Smash the state and bring about a pure socialist utopia by removing the workers from the neoliberalist oppression of the EU supra state. I even saw proper hardcore lefties suggesting that people vote Tory to ensure it happened. Things is, everything is kinda falling apart. But anyone who believes that the cold, dead hand of Tory Capital will easily relinquish its vise-like grip as a result and bring about a worker's paradise needs their meds.

We just had a pretty depressing email from school. Kids have been asked to go to student services if they need lunch and have no money because the amount of hungry children trying to get food on tick is bumming the dinner ladies out.
Bearing in mind we live in a fairly middle class area, it must be hell for some parts of the country.
