£100+ a month for me just on one day a week in the office. I'm technically meant to be in two days, but thankfully my boss doesn't seem to give a shit about that, so I've dodged the instant doubling of travel costs.
Just feels like pissing money away after being able to walk to my last job and then spending all that time WFH. Must be absolutely horrible for minimum wage workers who need to travel to work.

The problem is that, in terms of utility, it seems like a fairly binary 'at home full time or the office full time' choice.
If you allow an arbitrary amount like three days a week at home, its going to be very rare that enough people are in the office to stop it being a teams meeting anyway. It seems completely pointless.

Yup, that's where we're at. It's 2 days a week, but those days can vary and you never get everyone in the office at the same time. So I spend most of my time in the office on video calls. It's great to see people and have that wider connection but I'd rather save the £400 a month, cheers.

Prices don't go down. Lower inflation just means they stop going up so fast. In a recession they do. Otherwise no one is going to buy shit. Supply and Demand

Seriously though, find me any examples of negative inflation during recessions in the UK. The BoE is targeted to keep inflation the positive range.

You work from homer’s need a daily mail reading boss like mine. As soon as Boris requested it I had to put the plan in place to get everybody back in. This week is our first full week all back. We were doing 3 in office and 2 at home for the last twelve months and it worked perfectly...😡

I’ve got my lot going in once a month and we do our face to face meetings then but I’ve found some go in more often, like today, when we had two new starters.

Yeah. I know people who threatened to quit if made to go in full time. Bosses backed down quickly. It's a buyer's market out there, right now.

Strangely, the company I work for has opened up two new offices in the last few months as well as lots of people we interview say they want a base they can go into if they feel like it, so we’ve opened up small offices in office blocks that have multiple occupancy.

Seriously though, find me any examples of negative inflation during recessions in the UK. The BoE is targeted to keep inflation the positive range. Yes food banks exist because pay is shit and fuel costs a shit load. People can't afford to buy products, not enough people buy products, product manufacturer becomes more efficient to lower price so people will buy or manufacturer goes tits up. If you want an easy example of prices going down, look at house prices during a recession. This really isn't controversial I think people have just got so used to crisis economics that everything is seen as a disaster. A recession is shit, people lose jobs, prices come down 😊

Sounds like you need a new job. I’ve kind of pigeon holed myself, all of our competitors are either in London or down south. No way I can move the family now, I’m too old and kids are at critical school level. I reckon I may have a few resignations soon though

I reckon I may have a few resignations soon though The idea being that you can work from home, so it doesn't really matter where your office is... One of the jobs I was offered during my recent move, the office was in Virginia. And I interviewed a guy for a role at my new employer today who is based in Poland. Unless you have to meet customers face to face or operate specific machinery, then there's no real reason to be purely office based.

£1.30 for a tin of Heinz baked beans at my local Sainsbury's!!!!!!! Get a pack of 4 or whatever. Probably less than 99p a tin or better yet Hubbard's baked beans are alright at around 20p a tin. Try one I think they are alright when mixed in a casserole or used on jacket potatoes.

And alsoz it's Heinz or bust

Feels like only yesterday we were bemoaning £1 tins of Heinz.
Obligatory shout out for Branston beans that you can actually stack in your cupboard.
