I'm just playing the role I've been given. You better not say anything bad about it or the Elden Ring boogeyman will get you and make you play good games So are you saying that you won't protect my vegetables? I feel like it's more the other way around. You say you don't like Elden Ring and 20 people act personally attacked, tell you you're a bad person, that you're wrong, why you're wrong, why they like it and how many hundreds of hours they've played it for. You could have a whole army to protect your 'cumbers. Just put a sign up in your vegetable patch saying 'Elden Ring is shit'

Tbh, it's probably going to be easier to just not bother with attempts at humour and just shoot the fuckers myself.

Based on NZ prices, Lizard may be interested in this idea.

I've been using an app called Olio recently. The aim is to reduce food waste by sharing food & other household items to neighbours, all for free.
I thought it was for people more in need but it isn't. I think volunteers collect food that would otherwise end up in the bin from local supermarkets. The more people who use it in the area you live in the better it seems.

Oh, another interest rate hike, another stock market wobble, as we head for probably the third "once in a generation" recession I've known.

Gove's quote is great. To paraphrase, he said there's going to be a painful time to come and the government can't help everyone.
But don't worry, they'll still have money to hand fat contracts to their friend's and relative's new companies, to fund Sunak's incompetence and to charter private flights to deport people to Rwanda.
Just, if you're not a Tory MP, Lord or donor, you're fucked.

They do keep coming out with comments along the lines of it not being the governments job to help people. If that’s the case get rid of a huge amount of the government.

We could start with the cabinet.
It's not like anyone would miss them.

Haha this is mental now. My local Tesco petrol on Friday 10th was 172.9p for petrol and is now 184.9p.
Almost 10% jump in a week. Absolutely mental.
Am I right in thinking petrol is more linked to Opec?
Surely, this is just going to absolutely collapse the world economy. Again.

The biggest portion of it is the tax the Govt. take on it (Fuel Duty and VAT). Good old Rishi is actually coining in more money after the 5p cut. We’re paying for our own tax cut.

I've seen fuel prices going for around 2.069 euro here, and it don't look like they will go down.
Prices did decrease because of a temporary VAT cut a couple months ago, but once that was over, of course they climbed back up very quickly. Looks like one of those things that you can't really control. Not to mention, the government makes a lot of money from fuel taxes, what with it having an extremely stable demand curve no matter the price.

It’s very easy to control. The Govt. mandates it that the cut is removed at the till and shown on the receipt. That would expose the ones who aren’t passing it on, and make it easy for RAC and AA to point out the stations that have bumped the price up, out of line of the oil price

Remind me again why we’re having 9.1Bn of our taxes given directly to energy companies and disguised as a “rebate”

Work shitting at home is the best shitting. It means you never (hopefully) have to walk in an unflushed toilet that looks like somebody just prolapsed an entire madras in there.

Tbf I thank my lucky stars I WFH these days. Managed to get the job just before the petrol price rocket and there's no way my electric is anywhere near the cost of running a car.

Oh, another interest rate hike, another stock market wobble, as we head for probably the third "once in a generation" recession I've known. I've seen this a few times now...recessions happen. They're not always once in a generation, this is going to be a "normal" recession. People will lose their jobs, belts will need to be tightened, prices will need to be adjusted (down). This is the point. The difference is this time hopefully it won't be a huge chunk of the population that losses their jobs, houses but that interest rate increase is doing it's job. It's shitting people up enough that they stop spending money on every shiny thing they couldn't get during the pandemic. It's obviously still going to suck.

WFH is saving me £100+ a month, I’m only going in twice a month and when I have to go to our other sites that’s on expenses.
Given what they were like before I’m really surprised no one is being forced in, I’m guessing it’s partly a cost saving and partly because so many have said they’ll walk if forced in.
Looking forward to when the youngest is done with preschool as that’s most of my mileage in the week now.

Prices don't go down. Lower inflation just means they stop going up so fast.

I save just over 300 quid a month given the state of diesel and thats taking into account the domestic fuel hike. I would be happy to go into the office if it was a bit closer, but 'collaboration' isnt worth nearly four grand a year to me.
