What the hell is this alternate reality where suddenly hot tubs are as common as kettles...

It's true, my neighbour has a hot tub hanging on the wall.

I reckon you could make a mint selling weatherproof "LIVE, LOVE, BATH" plaques.

They're practically giving them away in special offers now. I imagine Gumtree is clogged up with thousands.

I should point out that a lot of these "hot tubs" are just big paddling pools with warm water. A proper hot tub is a very different beast and much more efficient because half of it is insulation.

True enough. Mine is definitely just a heated paddling pool for the kids. Am taking a meter reading tonight, will report back on how much 1 week has cost. (Heat has been turned off for 24 hours)

I remember having a bit of an argument with a company I do self employed work for, where I mostly WFH but they specifically requested going to one place. I told them that if petrol got above, I think it was £1.60 that it stopped being viable. Their response was "but 5p cut." Glad I told them to fuck off back then. 30 mile round trip for an hour when it can be done from home.

Well, most people still think prices are a direct result of manufacturing costs, or even worse, some kind of magical "value" inherent in things, so what did you expect?

Paid $5 (£2.50ish) for a cucumber yesterday. Why? Because they're $6.50 in most places.

Fucking hell. The day a cucumber goes over a quid I think I'll just settle for a small glass of water instead.

I know, I hate myself for paying that much, but it's nice and crunchy in my sandwiches and salads.

You'll lose all profits by having to invest into barbed wire and guard dogs.

It's compounded by seasonal availability. In a few months they'll be 99¢.

Have to say, I think I'd give a product a massive swerve with that seasonal variation. Peppers would perhaps be the one thing I'd pay significantly more for, use them a lot.
