We all know this really but until the funds are realised you are just staying the course and relying on the overall growth which historically has happened.
If you think you are losing out remember to zoom the graph out and look at the incredible gains that have been made since the tail end of last year.
I was tempted to move funds out of my tech ETF and into a more diversified world fund but I'm not looking to take out my money from my pension for about 10 years and its the same with my ISA, that'll be about years as I plan to use it as a bridge before my Pension can be taken.
I invested a large amount recently and at least its there to see gains, remember time in the market > timing the market.

Ah yeah, it was just a funny bit of timing. Completely ignoring that it had grown by much more over the past few months.

Yeah I really should just not look at it. It'd be easier if vanguard didn't keep emailing me about new documents every week.

Market dips are great. You get more of the same thing, for cheaper!
The general school of thought is “tech is overpriced”, but really almost every company is a “tech stock” at the moment.
Similar to the argument on “S&P isn’t globally diverse enough”. It’s an older thought. Almost every successful company is a global company now.

Well when your global fund is basically 70% of the S&P 500 it does feel a bit silly.

What confuses me it’s that it’s not a new thing, but is presented as such.
General Motors for example in the 50s and 60s was bigger in S&P dominance than Apple is today. Before that it was finance and real estate, after that it was energy and materials.
If anything it’s greater diversification that it’s spread across 7 companies right?

“There has also been concern that shares in technology companies, such as those focused on AI, have been overvalued and are now facing difficulties.”
No shit, Sherlock.

Gas prices are rising again, I hope many of you are on long term contracts.

Still on Octopus tracker and still saving decent money (12.45p electric today) and gas is usually around 5p (and we use fuck all right now), so I'm in no massive rush to ditch it
Have a feeling I'll regret not being locked into a fixed tariff when winter rolls around, though.

Also on the tracker still, keep toying with fixing but still saving enough to be worth it. If we get hammered a little over winter I'd like to think we've saved enough on the nearly 12 months on the tracker to be worth it in the long run.

That's where I'm at too. Although I need a smart meter installed before Feb but can't get an appointment for love nor money.

Unless something else really bad kicks off in the world before winter, I don't see why it should be any "worse" than last winter, and last winter on the Octopus tracker was great. We worked it out early this year and we definitely saved compared to fixed contract, and I'm confident it will be the same this year. I'm no rush whatsoever to get off, we've also built up a nice little buffer in our account on there.

Our fix comes to an end on the 29th September. Will probably fix again but the tracker is a tempting option. Requires a smart meter doesn't it?

Need to sort out an order of firewood soon. This was a great way for us to minimise central heating time and enjoy the caveman tv for a good few months.
Even the price of a bulk order has gone up this year though, which is annoying.
We built a fair excess on our gas and electric accounts last 2 years like this but changed the payment to run it down a bit this year.

Just phoned up and fixed again, cheaper than my current fix with no early exit fee this time and its cheaper than what the price cap is expected to go up by come 1st October.
I did think about booking a smart meter and going for the tracker but the cost per unit is fixed really high and if it did shoot up over winter id not want to be paying that. Sounds like it was ok for some of you last winter so hopefully its the same again and ill give it more consideration next year.

Just discovered that the light inside our fridge has been permanantly on because the door sags so much the light switch thingy hasn't been working. I just burnt my finger on the bulb.
I wondered why the butter was soft...

We used £1.40 in electricity yesterday according to our smart meter, we have only just had it fitted so I don't know how that compares to other days recently. Decent day for solar panels I guess, we only have 6 so I want sure what to expect in terms of usage.

Mainly worried about a middle east conflict. Would seriously impact gas prices. Currrently at 104 euro a month for gas and electricty for 3 years. Dynamic contract is 85 but I rather take a potentional 700 euro loss over 3 years for being able to budget and calculate my expenses.
But if the difference is much bigger in the UK I can see why you would instead stick to a dynamic contract with a smart meter.

Hey paupers, anyone flicked the heating on yet? /thickhoody About a week ago. I finally got the loft insulated properly so I figure I’ve done my bit for the environment.

It's not time for the heating yet is it? Our indoor thermostat says it's 20.5 degrees in the house without any heating on.
Maybe its fucked and not working properly 😂
