Direct debit date doesn't always line up with your mortgage date. Mortgage date might be the middle of the month, but when you set up direct debit they might've just went with the 1st. It's probably just the last payment at the old rate, but no harm in calling or opening a chat to double check.

Solar panels paying off. I paid absolutely nothing for electric last month and barely a couple of quid for gas.
Meaning something like 80% of my cost was standing charge -_-

That's ace. Would love to be in that position (not that I'm paying huge amounts on a tracker tariff)
Standing charges feel like such a con sometimes. Especially when they hike them with no explanation.

Tracker keeping the bills low here too, although DD hasn't dropped that much.

Got my firewood order in to be delivered 2 weeks from now. Hoping to see same impact on gas usage (for the central heating) as last year.
Of course that was so successful that we have ordered earlier so need an extra month of logs at least and don't think one delivery is enough for that. Excited now the weather is on the turn for autumn right enough

I'll probably get some insulation or a log burner installed. But obviously with dad's death there's other pressing matters.
The standing charge really fucks me off, though. Still, £280 in credit after 3 months or so.

I put the heating on one day last week...
£1000 in credit here!
Also, I exported over 200 kWh solar last month. Imported 196 kWh. Maybe I should get that battery???!!

Tracker keeping the bills low here too, although DD hasn't dropped that much. I had a £400 of credit built up after winter earlier in the year, so don't really trust Octopus' auto adjustments. I took the credit out and just worked out how much I'm using and manually adjusted DD down to £80. It's still building up credit for the coming winter, although probably not as high as it should be.

Funny that you're talking about this because I just ordered a third and (I would think) final new battery cell for my house for a total of 9.9kWh.
Since April I've apparently used 1,904kWh in the house of which only 182 was imported, which is a rough saving of about £550 I think. And that doesn't take into account the saving on the free hot water which I'm not smart enough to figure out.
Are you guys on time of use tariffs?

The Octopus Tracker is working out well at the moment. I think electricity has been around 20p or less per kwh and gas around 4-5p since I've had it. Considering the price cap is 30p and 8p, I'll take that.
Dilemma will come when winter comes in and the prices start to tick up. Once you switch off the tracker I think you're frozen out for 9 months.

Yeah, I'm considering switching to the tracker now. Agile was good earlier in the summer when they were paying you to use electricity but now the prices are ticking up I'm not really seeing the benefit.

I'm thinking of joining Octopus when my current fixed deal ends at the end of the month. I'll have to just have a normal tariff to start with, but then I can consider one of their fancy tariffs once I'm on-boarded. I'm thinking Agile will work for me with the batteries, I'll charge them manually in the middle of the night in the winter.
Is there some graph I can look at to see what the Agile prices did over the last year or so? Also how do you guys rate Octopus as a company to deal with?

You mean how does adding a new battery work? Or in general?

Does anyone have any fancy electrical heating equipment in their house?

Solar panels paying off. I paid absolutely nothing for electric last month and barely a couple of quid for gas. Meaning something like 80% of my cost was standing charge -_- We've just had a big ol' kitchen/diner built on the back of the house and I'm looking at the massive flat roof and thinking I surely need to get solar panels up there. We're south-facing on the south coast with zero shade, seems fookin obvious. Only concern I have is that we're planning on staying here for about 10 years (or until the kids move on...), so not sure if we'd even break even by then??
