Today I'm mainly listening to Gunship (thanks Nano!), but it's doing nothing to get this out of my head, where it has been for the past 3 days:
Which is ironic given the title.

Been listening to this all day today. I hadn’t realised he was basically the most posh man in music and descended from actual aristocracy.
Banging tunes though

Blur: The ballad of Darren. Really impressed, a lot better than Magic Whip, well certainly on my first few listens. Reminds me a lot of Bowie's last output. It is pretty melancholic, but as a fan only a few years younger than the band I kind of like that.

I woke up with an earworm today of a track called "what's so strange about me" by Eight Days. It's off the 1980s skateboarding video called Wheels of Fire. It's got a great soundtrack.
Just going through all their songs. Quite fun. Though I really like what's so strange about me.
I know what bass I'm practicing today!

The new Blur album. Not loving it to be honest... they sound a bit tired.

Sitting around all morning, listening to classical music. Ironically, this 25th anniversary remix EP goes so hard it could break an elderly listener like me’s hip The 25th anniversary remix collection of timeless doesn’t go anywhere near as full tilt but there are some excellent versions on there (albeit, it is a collection, so there are a few on there that are 20 years old themselves).

Spent much of the weekend driving home from a week on the west coast of Scotland/Islay. My youngest is going through a Johnny Cash et al phase - surprisingly entertaining and perfect fit for a chilled road trip.

I came across Dance Craze last night. 1981 documentary/music video covering the 2 tone / ska / rocksteady music in Sheffield in the late 70s / early 80s.
It's bloody great. You've got a proper high octane thing going on here, with bad manners, bodysnatchers, selector, the beat, madness, the specials etc.
And introduced by a hilarious narrator - quite old school.
Anyone else seen it?
It took me right back to my 20s!

Drum and Bass remixes have a danger of sounding like "that track you like, but sped up" and I'm not sure it works for all of them, but that Mindfields remix in particular is awesome

It's a cracking album. Used to play the shit out of it.
Space age love song and telecommunication are still in my regular playlist.
