Oh bollocks.
I saw the Obits on the Thekla on a Monday night years ago and there were about 8 people in the crowd, so we all went drinking with Rick and Sorab after. Interesting night.
He was a great writer and guitar player and a genuinely nice bloke, too.
RIP, Rick.

A few more of my favourite Rick Froberg jams:
Hot Snakes - Unlisted
Hot Snakes - U.S. Mint
Drive Like Jehu - Here Come the Rome Plows
Drive Like Jehu - Luau
Pitchfork - Burn Pigs Burn
I still can't believe he's gone. This fucking sucks.

I'm late to the party with Rick Froberg as the first time I heard of him (and his music) was when I gave Jericho Sirens a spin a few years ago. I absolutely love that record, damn shame he's gone.

rhaegyr Yeah, that's a damn fine album. The first one Hot Snakes released for 14 years, and I was worried that they may have lost it in the meantime; that concern dissipated as soon as the first track from the LP, 'Six Wave Hold-Down', debuted online.

Music For The Jilted Generation is 29 years old.
The time between now and the release of Music For The Jilted Generation is greater than the time between the release of Music For The Jilted Generation and the release of Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (chose that album as an arbitary benchmark)

Music For The Jilted Generation is 29 years old. I saw that yesterday. It’s going to be depressing next year. I actually listened to the first three albums yesterday off the back of it and, controversial opinion, the first one is the best. Banger and yet banger after banger.

Heard an early tune of theirs on the radio just yesterday and thought 'I' m going to have to check the first few lps out again'. Didn't realise it was all that long ago though. Shit, I am old. 😢

Speak Now (Taylor's version). I always thought it was the most overlooked TS album, so it's good to see it elevated to the forefront again. It's still great.

Walked into to a pub (baby needed a bottle so had no choice) and they've got an Iron Maiden playlist on which is nice an unexpected.

Bought a good few albums lately, so mainly listening on rotation to: Smashing Pumpkins: Atom, impressed especially considering the 30 odd tracks. Kimbra: A reckoning: I like it. QOTSA: Times new roman, sounds a lot like the pervious album to me only weaker Amanda Shires: Take it like a man, really good. Miley Cyrus: ESV, excellent. Brandie Carlile: In these days, excellent. Re the 3 albums above, I love the female southern vocal.
Two from my youth Erasure: Wild remaster (I only ever had on cassette in the late 1980's) PSB: Introspective remaster, not a huge PSB fan but still love this album, another I purchased on cassette all those years ago!
I have Blur, Black Stone Cherry and Roisin Murphy all on pre-order so looking forward to those.

Listening to Fun Lovin' Criminals - Come Find Yourself while cooking chili.
Reminds me of one of my favorite memories - taking an impromptu road trip to camp at the beach in North Devon with uni mates, while chilling out in the car with the windows down and listening to this album.
Still one of the most chill summer albums for me.

New Gunship album on the way! Is that muscly dude with the sax the same guy from Lost Boys and Thunderdome? [edit] to answer my own question: It is! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Cappello[edit 2] He doesn't look bad for 68! PS/ For those wondering, the blonde bassist is out of Wargasm. The band, not the video game. 想像力は武器だ
