Sleaford Mods and Fever Ray, both have new albums today.
I keep spending too much money on bandcamp

James Acaster has done a sort of experimental ambient hip-hop album and its actually really neat. Like I know because he’s famous its getting a certain amount of “lol so crazy” type attention but it kind of reminds me of something a label like Lost Map Records might put out and I’d be into regardless of who was in the band

My other half has surprised me with tickets to go see Duran Duran in May. It's a massive surprise as I've never mentioned I like them in the 18 years we've been together and they're not something I would normally listen to.
However they've got some absolute bangers and have been currently listening to one of their compilations quite a bit.

Having spent the last six months devouring King Gizzard's entire catalogue (including most of their live bootlegs), I'm now moving onto The Murlocs. Loving what I'm hearing so far.

Alexa thought I might like to listen to this as part of a mix she put together for me. It's really bad, but it does get stuck in your head.

I am extremely late to the party with Spanish Love Songs - what a fucking band. Started listening to them as they've just released a cover of Jimmy Eat World's "Futures" and I loved their sound. Digging into their back catalog now.
It's all very fucking good, love stumbling on a band that is right up my street.

This album only came out on Friday and I feel like I’m miles behind the curve discovering it over the weekend. Feels a lot like its on a similar wavelength to stuff like Broken Social Scene and Rilo Kiley I was into during my 00s hipster indie phase

The EP they brought out in 2018 was fucking excellent (still reguarly listen to it), Julien Baker's solo stuff is very good too (Little Oblivions in 2021 is perfect) and if you don't already know Phoebe Bridgers then god damn, catch up, her stuff is fucking wonderful. I'm not a huge fan of Lucy Dacus' solo stuff, but as a trio they have made a cracking album.

I’ll have to check out the ep and the others solo stuff, Pheobe Bridgers is the only one I knew beforehand but not all that well. I’m really bad at not keeping up with artists who aren’t ones I’ve been into forever already these days.
The song on the record about Leonard Cohen has some very funny lines in it.

I know what you mean, it's hard to keep up with a lot of stuff these days. The Release Radar on Spotify is pretty good at giving suggestions each week based on listening habits, but it does sometimes miss artists if you've not listened to them for a while.

Lucy Dacus actually makes my skin crawl, I throw a fit if Spotify puts any of her stuff on a mix. Same for Morrissey.
That said I do like Phoebe Bridgers, so I'm conflicted about boygenius.

My memory had competely erased Terrorvision, so I assumed that was this: (Great tune. Unexpected video) But once my memory warmed up I remembered that Terrorvision was a great band for singing/shouting along to in the club when you were a teenager. and singing songs on PJ and Duncan that I doubt the kids in the audience understood: I'm not going to link that annoying Tequila song though.
