To be fair I should have probably tried to listen for more than ten seconds.

Mentioned these before but fuck they're good. Somewhere between Jefferson Airplane and Black Sabbath. It's just amazing.

Great pick, think I actually preferred 13th Step over their first album. I don't like to talk about anything else after.

Fucking hell this song literally references '91 but things are still just shit. I mean I know I'm getting old and this is old fart music but fuck.
(not sure wtf the intro is about but its the first video I grabbed of what I was listening to and its clearly not an official upload)

Big heap of nostalgia for me right here, they don’t appear to have aged a day

They’ve done the odd show here and there but this album and tour seems more like a proper reunion. You can tell they’re all grown up now since there’s even a song about the singer’s difficulties have a disabled son being unsupported while in mainstream education on it.

I’m well down the early-00s British bands who look like they formed at sixth form college rabbit hole now

Slowthai - UGLY
3rd album released today. Enjoyed my initial listen a lot. I'm very much a Slowthai fan tbh, but this does feel like something different. His first album had a few punk inflected moments - the track Doorman in particular, but just the ramshackle angst ridden energy - but the second album fell back largely into contemporary trap stylings. It wasn't bad but it only really grabbed me in the second half.
This really leans into his rock influences a lot more, and features him singing on a few tracks. His singing voice isn't great, but it works in context, and sounds refreshingly unaltered,; no autotuning here. But there's also some very dark beats, straying into industrial sounds at times, and to my ears the first track YUM channels The Chemical Brothers.
The overall vibe is probably most similair to Gorillaz.
So just a first impression, but I'm liking it a lot and will listen again.
I guess the main criticism might be that in an effort to push himself forward his actual rapping has been left behind a bit, becuase he can have a really good flow...

Another young persons album turning 20 this week. I know they’re a big band but considering how much of that whole Myspace emo wave bands like My Chemical Romance rode was basically just doing exactly this its a surprise they weren’t properly massive

simple great record, but also the last one of theirs I really like. Not bad for a band who basically started out as a Misfits rip off.

For the last couple of months I've been listening pretty exclusively to Dax, NF and Tech n9ne. Wu Tang and Nas are coming here in May and none of my social circle cares about them so it might be a concert I go to solo.

Yeah, I’ve not been into anything they’ve done since but that one was cool. I quite like the first three records in a sort of dumb hardcore way (and they were a lot of fun live back in the mid/late 90s) and the Art of Drowning has some moments, too.

First band I ever saw outside of Grimsby, at Leeds fest 2001. Stumbled into the first tent I found.

Probably my favourite Josh Homme solo (he's got a few).
Not necessarily exceptional technically but it's in the feel that hits the spot. Kyuss are a great band too if you can get past the marmite vocals.

Lacrimosa: Supposedly Symphonic Metal, but apparently not Metal enough for Encyclopedia Metallum, so it goes here.
