This touched me, written and sung by a amazing man who was well aware of his own impending mortality but also his legacy. He died a couple of days ago.

I'm in a folky mood. Here's some of my favourite folk tracks.
I would start a new folk thread but not really sure it would get any traction

Thanks, I do appreciate a bit of folk. Here are a few I've been listening to of late.
Decent live performance, 2 whistles at once! (song is Tralee Gaol):

drhickman1983 : I trade you a SubRosa for your Myrkur. (There are surprisingly many bands doing their own version of House Carpenter). They are mostly a Doom-band though.
Otherwise just random stuff I had to think of:
Rufus Wainwright:
Guano Apes: I hear their new albums have been streamlined into oblivion, but I haven't listened to them myself.
The Divine Comedy:

ToomuchFluffyWow, Guano Apes... I'd forgotten about them. I always liked Open Your Eyes.

Was reminded of the Spawn soundtrack which made me think of this - I love the song but, fucking hell, for me it's the most 1990's sounding thing I can imagine.
The video is also very 1990's.

Nina Nastasia has released her first album in 12 years and the new album is a much stripped back affair (she's been through a lot in the past few decades and much is covered here). I have missed her voice, she is superb. For anyone who doesn't know her and wants more start with her The Blackened Air album it is wonderful.
I'm intrigued by a new sludge-metal band called Chat Pile who have released their debut album so that's next on the list.

It's probably the best thing I've heard all year (and longer in fact). It's most likely going to end up being my album of the year. It's just very cathartic. Not happy music but just amazing. Godflesh and Big Black influences, but also Jesus Lizard and a substantial chunk of Korn.

Great, looking forward to giving it a proper listen.
There have been some great louder albums so far this year (BC,NR, Drug Church, Fontaines D.C.) but I need something really meaty to get my teeth into.

Unbelievably cheesy, and nostalgia is a fucking disease, but the sun is shining & I just had the briefest happy flashback of dicking round europe in the olden days. I had a million miles of fun.

Somehow, despite living close to Melbourne and claiming to be "into" music, I have only just discovered the existence of King Gizzard. I'm simultaneously intimidated and absolutely ecstatic to see how big their back catalogue is. Can anyone help me with some suggested places to even start? I've been poking my nose down the rabbit hole listening to various random songs on YT and they've pretty much ALL been amazing.

I have been listening to this song by Osees (previously known as Thee Oh Sees) a lot over the past few weeks, the album is out today and it does not disappoint:

Flying Microtonal Banana Infest The Rats Nest Nonagon Infinity Polygondwanaland Are my favourites and probably as good a place as any to start but their live albums are also really good.
