Necking - Cut Your Teeth
(If there's a way of embedding Bandcamp links in ProBoards, I'm buggered if I can work it out!)

Papa Was A Rollin' Stone on headphones; 12 minutes of pure groove.

Arcade Fire - WE
Just got around to listening to this. It's pretty great and definitely a return to form after their last effort. They do earnest, uplifting, anthemic pop rock better than anyone I think.

Another totally different one that was recommended to me today is Kazuyoshi Saito I think he might have listened to too much Beatles when growing up. The Blue Hearts on the other hand obviously listened to too much Clash.

Just as I was thinking about it during the week Load turns 26 today. This was the current era of Metallica when I discovered the band as a teenager so its strange watching clips back from the time now I’m older than every member of the band was at the time
Looking back after what the last 20 years has seen I don’t think the band has looked as comfortable as they did during the Load/Re-Load days since. They were clearly stretching their legs and able to make whatever music they wanted then and since its largely been identity crisis and almost playing catch-up to stay relevant, with pretty mixed success. Maybe its just because I was a Load kid but I do miss the swagger they had then.

Its also 19 years of St.Anger this weekend. I spent so long watching this dvd trying to convince myself that these were the good versions and it was just the album mix that made the songs seem bad. I still love the Some Kind of Monster documentary and sort of liked them more because of it. Although not as much as Mission to Lars. youtu.be/eXXr05-X_aAedit: that should be the full film. I love it so much.

I'm not that much of a TTG fan, but that episode was all kinds of awesome. And the song is just perfect for it.

If you're prepared to admit that Metallica are a better rock band than they are a thrash band (which I am), Load is their best album.

Thanks to Blue_Mike I'm listening to this song on repeat. I'd somehow managed to forget this band used to be a thing until now. Fucking love it:

Monster Magnet - Powertrip Space Lord is probably the sexiest song ever written. youtu.be/dscfeQOMuGwI dunno, thats good, but I think Yello = Drive, Driven is pretty much my best dtf song. (Watching the Manga Entertainment version of Space Adventure Cobra may have had a bigger impact on my psyche than expected). Though now I'm thinking about sexy songs, this is just - to try and sound like somebody 20 years younger than me - a vibe That's really reminded me how much I love that song. Shame the rest of the album was, as far as I can fail to recall, utterly meh.

A full pro-shot live show - their last one ever, come to that - recorded 20 years ago today.
