Dragging shows out because they're successful always helps keep up the quality I mean, look at Game of Thrones, Lost, S2 of Twin Peaks, Walking Dead, Simpsons, Dexter, Arrested Development etc. All gold with no dips whatsoever. Game of Thrones had a quite poor final season. They decided on an ending which was unsatisfying to its viewers. Don't think that is necessarily because it was on for too long. But I'm happy to be disagreed with. Lost was shit shit from Season 2 onwards. Again, I don't like the choices they made. Unless you're going to tell me that the original plan was to have it cancelled at the end of the first season, I don't think the extra seasons were the root cause of it being shit. Never seen Twin Peaks. The Simpsons peaked long ago. True. Walking Dead..., I had stopped watching after that lady died and became Burnham in Star Trek Discovery. But was it just not essentially like comfort blanket TV? Essentially the same thing all the time? I'll allow it. Zombies have overrun the world. It will always be zombies that are the threat. Essentially Neighbours with Zombies. Dexter was shit from the beginning. Again, extra seasons were not the problem. But having said that, the extra seasons gave us the season with Jimmy Smits and Ray Stevenson. Both of which were excellent.

Heroes had a decent first season with a tantalising glimpse into the future for the series, then three seasons of complete and utter dogshit.
That's definitely a show that would've been better to kill off early.

There is also the cancellation thing to consider. If something is good, you also want a satisying conclusion to it rather than it sputtering along, getting progressively worse ratings until someone puts it out of its misery.
So many shows have given us an incredibly optimistic, unresolved cliffhanger rather than just ending when they should have.
I dunno, as per the TV thread, there is so much stuff out, I would rather have 3 seasons of absolute dynamite than 5 seasons of dimishing returns until its taken out the back and shot.

It's not really hard to understand, is it? There's been more than enough shows that have been dragged on to the point where they become a shell of their former selves because the networks/suits wanted the money to keep rolling in, instead of allowing the show to end when the creative process felt it should. It's just a wish to ensure that things end on the story's terms, not "we demand x more seasons because $$$". Maybe I was being too polite. No, it's not hard to understand, because it's a very obvious sentiment. What I'm saying is I disagree with it and I'm glad that everyone in this thread that has that opinion has got zero to do with the shows in a creative capacity. For every viewer that feels that a show like Heroes has spun it's wheels too long and betrayed the core motivation of its different characters by flip-floppong from villain to hero to villain and everything in-between, there are others that like to be entertained. And if it really gets to the point that you feel that you can't support the show, because you disagree with the notion of a network/suits making money (which, incidentally, also trickles down to the creators in front and behind the camera. But I'm sure you knew that already), you can decide to not watch. Personally, I prefer to give shows a chance, rather than preemptively decide it will just end up shit, so it shouldn't exist. Yikes - do you work in the industry or something? You might be happy supporting a load of dreck TV shows long after they've peaked but most of us would rather be entertained by decent quality TV with our limited watching time instead of supporting shit shows past their sell by date out of some sense of blind loyalty. Strawmanning is easier than I thought.

GOT is a poor choice because it suffered due to the creators wanting to rush and finish sooner than originally planned [10 seasons]

This is a show with a pretty much unlimited supply of superheroes/villains (as they can just make them up if they like), plus a massive expanded universe if they want it. Its also R rated and heavy with in your face social commentary and satire. If the creators and writers are good enough it can just run and run. There is nothing else like it on TV (live action) so I do not want it to end season 4 just because some people want it to wrap up the Butcher/Homelander story and be done.
It's the best show on TV and long shall it continue :-)

Maybe they can keep going with the spin-off. But the Butcher/Homelander thing is coming to a head, and they should finish it (and the main series) without stringing it along further. They're basically the centre of the show, I don't think Hughie or whatever is strong enough to carry it.
It's ok for stories to end! There will be other things to watch! And I'm sure the people working on it will find other things to do, such is the nature of... you know... a career.

He was great as the Comedian, so keen to see what he brings to the table. No idea what character he's even playing but it already feels like an excellent bit of casting.

GOT's payoff was disappointing, but I don't understand the criticism of the rest of the final season. Loads of battles, big action is what I remember.

Binged all three seasons of this in the past week. Not sure why, as it’s not really doing much for me. I enjoyed the gory lols, the social commentary is too on the nose but entertaining enough, and “laser my tits” was absolutely on some screenwriter’s bucket list.
If there’s another season it’ll be nice if it actually goes somewhere.

Gen V's latest trailer doesn't spare the claret, it couldn't either with one of the character's rather messy power.

Just watched the first episode of Gen V. It is how you'd expect it to be.

For some reason I'm always baffled by University/High School American Football stadiums in things, regardless of how many times I've seen it.

Isn't it part of the conspiracy/dark secret that lots (all?) of the "natural" supes are actually from a baby farm where they were all injected with V? There aren't actually any natural supes?

I think there are some new ones who genetically inherited powers from their parents, but they all originally came from the drugs iirc. Parents gave it to their kids to make them special.
