Also, retro74 , how's your brother doing now? He’s doing fine. Took him a while to completely get over it and it actually did change his attitude a bit too He’s still a dickhead though

For every New Years' Eve, my local uses the small piece of parkland opposite to do a fireworks display at midnight, or as it has become known in more recent years, the "Traditional standing outside and hoping Simon doesn't accidentally knock any fireworks over and launch them horizontally directly at us again" display.
So I'm off down there now.

I'm struggling tonight, trying to get the booze balance just right, just enough to stave off the depressing prospect of what awaits in 2024 (can it really be worse than 2023?) but staying just sober enough to keep Mrs Mercury company/awake for the next 2 1/2 hours. The struggle is real.

Watching the middle child play Blasphemous. Partner off to a NY's party. I'm drinking Madrí after a couple of Martini Expresso's. Chicken popsticks in the oven, plus chips.
Happy days ✌️

Managed to push through a 12 hour shift despite feeling rough, now in bed shivering, sweating and aching with a pounding head. A night of fever dreams awaits.
Happy New all!

The holiday spirit isn't particularly strong in the house currently for various reasons, but Happy New Year (minus ~10 minutes or so) everyone May we see a(n at least slightly) better world in this upcoming year and may you get everything you want/need in your life

Sat in a pub, replete, in Bassenthwaite (Lake District). Not sure we'll make it to midnight. Other half and the boys are getting restless. Holiday rental is a short walk and a supply of Bruichladdich and Ardbeg awaits.

Merry New Year FG!
We’ve just watched a movie now trying to drag the boy off Fortnite so we can play a board game. We’ve all been ill for about 6 weeks, can’t seem to shake it. I’m bloody exhausted and kind of just want to go to bed. Kids want to stay up though.

In a holiday house in West Sussex, just polished off a couple of porchettas, settling kids into bed now so the adults can have dessert / champagne and ring in the new year.
I've had a good physical and mental rest this past boxing "week", but I'm already exhausted now thinking of what needs to get done in next 3 weeks.

Four minutes to go here.
The first couple months of the new year are going to suck badly, I know that for sure. What a great start it's gonna be.

My first activity in 2024 was going to be a trip to the shops to get some bacon for a sandwich. Somehow that's turned into a massive hike up the hill. Well, I'm at the top. On reflection I should have had the bacon sandwich first. Currently working on an oat bar and a swig of Pepsi Max, which probably isn't ideal.

Happy New Year everybody!
As some of you know, the year ended with a loss in our (extended) household and it will take a while until we get to terms with that, but here's to a peaceful, uneventful New Year!

Lizard that’s quite beautiful. I walked round Pennington Flash today, unsurprisingly it’s not half as nice

Well the missus has gone to bed. Still half an hour to go before the countdown. To be fair, our boy turned one three days ago so we’re still fine by it tricky to fit in any fun.
I mean, I could call Babestation… but not talk to them. I’m shy.

Watched the rest of James Bond: Cuntpuncher or whatever it was called, so may as well stay awake now.
The I'll watch Jools Holland until midnight, but I can't watch him without thinking of this this throwaway bit from Adam & Joe

Quite enjoying Rick Astley on the bbc. I think I’m quite old. Haha, same. Wind must've messed up our aerial, as the HD channel keeps cutting out. iPlayer is a bit behind too, so I'm watching in SD like a proper old man.

Happy new year, people trapped in the past. The timezone here is 1 hour ahead, so the fireworks and stuff have ended a while ago.
Now, do I dare hope 2024 will be better than 2023?
