He keeps getting confused that he was the President and not an absolute monarch, hopefully he won't get a chance to make himself one in November.

Yeah, but apparently he's managed to delay the other trials over Jan6 enough that, if he wins in November, he will have immunity again.

Yeah, the point was never really to win. It was to delay. If he's president again he'll probably just pardon himself or whatever the fuck.

Ruling in and no chance of a successful appeal from the sexual assault & defamation case.
Ruling due any day now for his crooked business empire.
Manhattan DA trial for falsifying records coming in March.
Assuming it doesn’t get shifted by the Federal Election interference case. (which is back moving as of today, albeit pending a no doubt failed SC appeal from Trump)
After that he has his Georgia state trial, which despite the DA’s promiscuous controversy, shouldn’t be delayed and should take place, televised, in late summer.
Then he has his stolen documents case which all indications are he can delay until after the election thanks to a friendly judge.
No wonder Nicki Haley is staying in the race. He is in the oven on the way to being cooked, and I cannot wait to see him finally face real consequences.

I'm sceptical that he will ever see the inside of a jail cell, but one can dream.

It's not a good look but the Nevada thing is all messed up anyway, and Haley intentionally chose to ignore it. Primary without Trump, caucus with Trump, both generally meaningless towards an outcome due to the way they're structured.

So, Biden mixed up Macron with Mitterand recently. At least both start with M and are French. Now he did the same with Angela Merkel and... Helmut Kohl.
334 million people and this is the choice they have. Biden is clearly too damn old and Trump should be in a cell somewhere, but here they are.

It's pretty funny to me that, with the economy the best it's been in years, low unemployment, controlled inflation and all the rest of it, people - including Democrats! - point to Biden misremembering a couple of names as evidence that he's doing a terrible job.
It's so, so fucked, like the guy can't do anything right, and even when he does nobody notices.

Isn’t it lovely how the fate of the world rests on a flawed democracy, a broken system and the outcome of an election decided by a few hundred thousand votes here and there.

😎Who do you think will win the election in November: Trump (assuming he's the Republican candidate), or Biden?

Just a question, by the way - not an attempted 'gotcha!' or anything! I'm curious as to what the Font Geek US contingent (you're in the US, right?) expects to happen.

I just don’t think it’s worth making any kind of prediction right now. There’s too much chaos, too many variables. All the legal issues, health issues, etc. But my gut feel is Trump is losing broad support and that it’s the MAGA boomers who are keeping him afloat.

I hope you’re right. My gut feel is that US bipartisanship is dead and gone for good and any result apart from a clear Republican victory will lead to widespread unrest and a refusal to accept the result well into next year. Trump still hasn’t conceded the 2020 election remember - the old way of doing things is long gone.

I have hope, maybe misplaced, that once Trump is properly gone (IE dead) then things will begin to simmer down, mostly because it'll amplify the GOP civil war, but also there's really no-one that can match him as a cult leader. But yes, we'll have to wait and see.
On an exceptionally selfish note, I don't lose sleep over it myself anymore because all in all whatever happens will have not a lot of impact on me directly as a relatively well off straight white married male with no dependents. That may absolutely scream lack of empathy, but ultimately it's not worth the internal stress. I'll do what I can do help/promote/champion progressive causes and equality, but for my small sphere of influence, it's not going to make much difference either way.
That probably makes me sound like a monster.

Whilst I understand that approach, and probably one I take (for my own sanity), the issue is everything in linked in geopolitics and soon gets mich closer to home than you'd expect. An emboldened Putin and Iran is not an outcome anyone wants to see.

Oh for sure, but there's even less that I can do about that too. I guess "not worried about it" is the wrong term, more that I'm increasingly less focused on the macro and long term and more on what I can do locally and short term, because everything else is beyond my power to influence in any way shape or form. Obviously Trump getting in for a second term is an event no-one sane wants.
I'm probably not articulating it that well to be honest.

Nah, I get it. You can only control so many things and worry is a wasted emotion and all that.
