Was a good day in Cleveland today. Recreational weed became legal and women can abort the shit out of all the fetuses without draconian bullshit laws charging them with murder or some other nonsense. Neither passes into law until early next year, but it has put the republicans in their place.

I'm certain it's filtered down the newspipes into Blighty, but the Ohio congress has decided they have the, and I quote, "God given right" to ban abortion. They're taking it to the supreme court to strike the people's vote, citing interference from foreign billionaires. And the bill they have drafted is frankly terrifying. Essentially, they're excluding their opinion on abortion from the judgements of Ohio courts, essentially removing protection for women who seek abortion, but obviously with wording at least as vague as that sentence, it's open to being abused with extremely far-reaching ramifications. None of which are good for any cunt. Also, that they can cast aside any public vote if it doesn't play along with republican rhetoric. Meaning, of course, they can announce whoever they want as the winner of any election. It's a testbed. If they succeed, expect to see the same shit pop up in state after state. Getting a little bored with this bootlicking, squalid, poverty stricken, violent shit hole. Might look into slipping back into Europe someplace while the getting is good. |
