What's DeSantis' position on Ukraine? I can't imagine Trump's one being good.

He called it a "territorial dispute" which tells you everything you need to know.

I think Trump's people have had 4 years to learn from the mistakes they made due to incompetency. Him getting back in would lead to worse outcomes than his first term imo. Culture war posturing aside, DeSantis seems more like a normal kind of conservative to me. Which is still bad, but it's a bad that is more familiar and comfortable to me than another 4 years of Trump. No, I don't think they ever learn. Greed always comes first and foremost. I think DeSantis is worse, much worse I don't think many minorities will see it as being more comfortable than another 4 years of Trump. The only positive for Trump is that DeSantis has absolutely no interpersonal skills or charisma in the slightest, he'll be absolutely destroyed if he actually has to debate Trump in front of an audience. Agree to disagree I suppose. To me, DeSantis is mostly posturing with all the culture war stuff, he's just doing that stuff because he (correctly) thinks that the Trump fans will lap it up. Which doesn't make it ok, of course, but it's pretty normal politician behaviour. I'd be more willing to gamble on a DeSantis presidency not being a complete disaster, more than a second Trump term with acolytes who now know how to work the system. But yeah, moot point really, because why have Trump Lite when you can have the real Trump.

Oooor we could just do what I keep saying and split the US. DeSantis presidency would be much worse than Trump.

Yeah I'm baffled by the "posturing" comment tbh. The stuff he's doing in Florida is actively chilling stuff. Posturing is what he's doing with Disney, everything else is erasing the existence of anyone who isn't a straight, white male. Both him and Trump are terrible the difference is that Trump is just about greed and whatever gets him attention, DeSantis is just a competent dictator in waiting.

Is it me or does Biden seem to be making more and more blundering mishaps either mentally or physically. He's really not all there.

And yet he also just negotiated one of the most bipartisan agreements in decades that sailed through both house and senate first go around.
Stop reading whatever right wing shite you’re looking at.

Well according to Republicans he's either senile and doddering or the devil incarnate who is the mastermind behind a deep state criminal family. Or you know it could be just bullshit.

Trump likely to be indicted on Espionage and Obstruction charges in the documents investigation.
Also former chief of staff Mark Meadows has flipped and will be pleading guilty to other charges. Not sure if that’s related to the docs or moreso the coup.

It's hilariously obvious trump will flip and sell everyone out to save himself. I can't wait for his cunt kids get arrested for unrelated matters in return for daddy's reduced sentence.
He'll probably be the target of a hit before he sees the end of his upcoming documents trial.

Yeah I read this yesterday and was unsure what was going on then all these legitimate publications started covering and I'm unsure what to think tbh. I don't buy it. What is described would require at least dozens and possibly hundreds of people, in multiple countries over many years, keeping the secret, whilst not a single other source captures any strong evidence atall. For instance, if the US has all this, surely the UK and its dependencies must have had loads of visits over the hundreds of years of glorious empire, the aliens presumably didn't just start turning up recently when we first imagined them. In that case, the current fucking morons running this country are keeping the secret too, and all the previous morons have too. Not once has Johnson made some thoughtless and probably alienist gag about invading ships in The Channel for instance, before frantically jowling that he shouldn't have said that. It also requires that we accept an alien race or races are capable of crossing light years of space, but can't manage 30 miles of atmosphere without crashing into Nevada. Are there aliens? Yep. Are they watching us? Maybe. Have our governments somehow managed to collect downed spaceships and keep it secret. Nope.

Clearly it is nonsense. I very much do believe that aliens exist, even intelligent aliens. The alternative of us being super special and the only place life has developed in the entire universe seems completely implausible and I would see as almost certain proof that I'm also incorrect on my atheism.
However, the chances of that life being able to travel to us in any kind of reasonable timeframe is nil. The nearest solar system to us is 4.2 light-years away. If we accept the slim chance of intelligent life being there (I believe there are a couple of planets in the habital ring around the star) and that they happen to be so much more advanced than us that they could travel at the speed of light (if that is even possible), they aren't doing an 8 and half year round trip to probe some drunk hillbilly and to tip over some cows.
I expect we will discover life on another planet sooner rather than later though, likely within my lifetime. It will be something microscopic tucked away somewhere, maybe on a moon. I also expect intelligent life is incredibly rare in the universe, to the point we may never encounter it. We like to think intelligence is the apex of evolution, but when we look at the creatures that survive the longest it is the simplest ones. On the grand scale of the universe, intelligent life likely rarely survives for much more than a blink.

The funny thing is, we've almost all thought this with some degree of certainty for years, and now that someone has come along with some hearsay that it might actually be the case, everyone has collectively decided that it's a load of old bollocks.
My thinking, if I may don a kitkat wrapper fez for a mo, is that it is both true, and that no small amount of technology has already been harnessed from it. The type of technology that can transform the planet, be it anti-gravity mechanisms, or inexhaustible energy sources, or something we haven't even considered that is utterly transformative.
We haven't had many technological quantum leaps since the microchip, or more precisely, the transistor, and we're approaching the end of what they're capable of performing without serious amounts of money and years put into R&D needed push them just a little more beyond the limits of Moore's Law.
This could be the foil with which they are ultimately able to start introducing "alien tech".
I'm not concerned with how far some inhabitable planet is from us, that could well be irrelevant due to some ludicrously complex method of space folding. Or something. Or there is a whole lot more going on right here in our oceans than we have any idea about.
Whatever it is, I'm open to hearing more.
