It was pretty funny. Though I think I'd prefer DeSantis getting the nomination over Trump, so his early implosion is a little worrying to me.
(obviously I don't want either of them to get in, but DeSantis has a relative advantage of not being entirely insane)

I'm the other way, I'm pretty worried about DeSantis getting into national power as I think he could do a lot of damage. Especially with a conservative supreme court. National book-bans and 'don't say gay' in all schools, etc..
I also feel like he'd have a better chance of winning.
If Trump gets nominated again, or even if he gets into power again, it's just going to be him messing around and causing superficial damage while he slowly implodes.

I think Trump's people have had 4 years to learn from the mistakes they made due to incompetency. Him getting back in would lead to worse outcomes than his first term imo.
Culture war posturing aside, DeSantis seems more like a normal kind of conservative to me. Which is still bad, but it's a bad that is more familiar and comfortable to me than another 4 years of Trump.

I feel like the only real lasting damage Trump did as president was stacking the Supreme Court, and he can't do that again.
I mean, he did a lot of other damage too, but that was more in a reputational and divisional sense.
DeSantis seems to be turning Florida into an extremist hellhole, and planning to do the same thing nationally.
DeSantis will probably be back 4 years later to try again, so maybe it doesn't really matter either way.

I think DeSantis is worse, much worse I don't think many minorities will see it as being more comfortable than another 4 years of Trump. The only positive for Trump is that DeSantis has absolutely no interpersonal skills or charisma in the slightest, he'll be absolutely destroyed if he actually has to debate Trump in front of an audience. |
