Going back to the aliens thing, you only have to look at our planet to see that it is possible we are alone. Life on our planet has only occurred once. We all share a common ancestor. So it could be unique.

That isn’t to say that there aren’t habitable planets out there. Just that it seems a specific set of circumstances gave rise to life on our planet. And that might not be repeated. It goes along with the paradox, that with so many planets capable of giving rise to life, where are the radio signals from other forms of intelligence?

I’ve struggled to be optimistic about him getting his comeuppance for a long time now. But dear lord the content of these tapes makes it hard to not imagine him seeing out his days in prison. The thing is it really didn't start that way and was more about getting attention which equals money. He wasn't expecting to get this far and when he got the nomination and then the presidency and saw what he could get out of it, again, money, and more importantly the belief that he would be free from prosecution for all the illegal shit that he had done and was still to do, you could then see why he has gone as far as he has in stoking all this rigged election bullshit. The amount of money he's been grifting from people in made up shit like his "election fund" and funds for his law team, and the NFT bullshit you could totally see why a person like him wouldn't want the gravy train to stop.

It's a bit concerning how long these things take, imagine the sheer amount of destruction that someone could end up doing if they really knew what they were doing. They'd have months or years before the doj caught up with them.

Seems like the baffling decision to assign MAGA judge "Qanon" Cannon will be the biggest hurdle for the DOJ. She could well throw a number of spanners in the works and effectively run out the clock until the next election.

Hm, well she's already demonstrated that DOJ involvement + intense public scrutiny won't stop her from making insane rulings that blatantly favour Trump. She stalled the investigation for weeks with her fuckery and walked away from all that with a slap on the wrist. I (naively I suppose) thought at minimum she wouldn't be let near anything involving Trump again after the shit she pulled. But I guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Btw, yes, I still think De Santis is preferable to this. I would (very begrudgingly) take anything over this clown being in power for another 4 years.

I don't think you're really taking into account how much more worse AND competent DeSantis is. I read what you posted about the cunt of a parent who called a far right journalist to get the drag story time cancelled and all the shit that followed, a DeSantis presidency would make that kind of bigotry and hate a patriotic thing to do.

I think people need to temper their expectations re: Trump. Even IF he was found guilty before the election and was actually sent to prison there is literally nothing in the constitution to prevent him from still running for president. He could even continue the campaign from his cell, in which case he'd be pardoning himself minutes after he was sworn in.

I think he's well aware how high the stakes are that he wins in 2024 so that all the charges against him can be waved away. I expect him and his team to pull out all the stops and do whatever necessary to ensure a Trump win this time round. They're going to play very dirty.
