It’s just astonishing he manages to find new ways, constantly, to up the game on being utterly pathetic. I think it’s been seven or eight years since he came down that escalator, but the pathos has only escalated.

Whoulda thunk it!

As long as he never gets near anything resembling actual power again, I'll be happy. Happier if the fucker gets put in jail, of course, but I'll take small victories in the meantime.

I was thinking earlier today that they’d never put together 12 people in the US who’d unanimously vote to convict Trump of ANYTHING. It’s like 1/4 of them are incapable of realising there’s anything wrong with him and another 1/4 do but don’t care / admire that / are psychopaths.t

Not necessarily true. On federal charges brought in DC no doubt he would be convicted. Trump vote there is like 1%.

I think he's more likely to die of old age before any conviction comes his way.

4 criminal charges for Trump is the recommendation!

Didn't see all of the committee session today but what I did see was pretty damning.
The charges:
Obstruction of an official proceeding Conspiracy to defraud the United States Conspiracy to make a false statement Inciting, assisting, aiding, or comforting an insurrection Conspiracy to make really shit NFTs
The last one was too late to be within the scope of the committee but it deserves to be in the list.

Tan Suit mk2. Right wing idiots are furious that Zelenskyy did not wear a suit to meet Biden. It’s a bigger scandal than Trump’s taxes, apparently.

A pissing contest between those two, to ascertain who's crazier, would be something to behold.

I think they think the US voters like tiny stuff. Trump- tiny hands, tiny brain. Biden- tiny steps, tiny lifespan left(?).

To be fair, it's also tradition for presidents not to incite a fucking Capitol breach, but we saw how that went...

People have been clamoring for these tax returns, but as the article points out, you can't really say anything about them without the accompanying documents, and it's all a bit of a mess anyway.
And I really doubt it will make Trump supporters (however many are left at this point) not vote for him, or Trump haters suddenly decide to give him their support.
I suppose it's more of a moral victory?

I'd consider it another blow, however small, to his ego and untouchable image. It's hardly going to shake the die-hards, true, but the more they chip away the more they'll find...

It’s worth having it out there as proof of what’s been generally highly suspected for a long time anyway- that he’s a prick who pays no tax by being really terrible at business and writing it off. There’s no two ways about it, his tax-avoidance losses are either fraud or proof that he’s utterly shit at legit business and relies on ripping off his sycophantic marks.
You can rightly argue that they won’t notice, but enough people will to prevent him becoming President again. I mean even Murdoch got sick of the cunt, which is like pubes fighting.

The way tax write-offs work for rich people seems different from the way they work for us. They buy whatever they want, and then write it off so they pay no tax. Yet if I go out and buy a car, a huge tv and a ps5 I don't think I can use that as a justification to pay less tax.

Yet if I go out and buy a car, a huge tv and a ps5 I don't think I can use that as a justification to pay less tax. They also work incredibly differently in the US to the UK. The US seems like a free for all for paying fucking no federal tax by just writing stuff off. You have to go through the self employed rules in the UK: www.gov.uk/expenses-if-youre-self-employed which are generally more limiting. But Trump seems to have basically just announced that capital assets he still owned were just valued less and wrote that off at times, and I don't think there's any mechanism for that bullshit in the UK (not an accountant though). Not that rich people here pay that much tax, but that's because they squirrel it all away off shore in Jersey or whatnot.

I’ve been watching a lot on it. One of his schemes was apparently to “donate” stuff, like he’d donate a worthless portion of uninhabitable swamp at he back of one of his properties to whatever but have the land valued at 20 million dollars, then get a 20 million dollar tax deduction.

Edit: Ignore me, I misread what you said.
The biggest takeaways really are that he held foreign accounts and actually paid significant amounts of income tax on those. The rest of it is just loopholes and uncovering his lies, like claiming to donate his salary, being under audit, etc, which while embarrassing for most people, amount to nothing.

This is a man who, in all likelihood, has at least made passing comments at his daughter about how fit she is.
Shame doesn't come into it.
