Isn't it because the Donald has stolen all the money? Yeah. Trump took a lot of donations for himself. To fund his business as republicans are paying his legal fees separately So a lot of funding dried up. |

He’ll run, fund raise and then eventually pull out once the donations run out (or win). That would be consistent, any way, so I’m going with that.
Even if he doesn’t announce an official run he’s still going to do the rallies. The only differece to any other ex-politician making a living on the after-dinner speaking circuit is his audience.

I would prefer he just fucking went away. Yes it creates a divide in the Republican party, and it's their own damn fault for not standing up to his bullshit. But he was really close to winning in 2020, and I'd rather not have him win again.

He’s surely got less support among Republicans and even more active opposition from everyone else after January 6 and the rest. This current election is strong evidence that he’s finally poison to his own side.
His run is probably mostly about more donation grift and the obvious tactic against his many crimes. “I’m a political prisoner!” is something I look forward to him saying from some dock or another.

Not much one can do about that, but nor does it matter. So much money and time is spent just to sway a few swing voters. You could have either side choose a goat as their candidate, and the vote gap still wouldn't change much.

Its an act of self preservation not out of thinking he could lead the country well. Everyone knows it. But now we have a case where Trump fans are actively stomping on pictures of DeSantis saying "TRUMP OR DIE" so I'm just gonna watch the incoming self implosion of the GOP and enjoy.

Exactly this, for me. I think his primary goal now is to put off any court cases until he dies and the best way of doing that and maintaining his lifestyle is to be president/presidential candidate. It's not an ideal situation at a time when we actually need a solid and grounded United States (in terms of World affairs, etc) but they've brought this on themselves. They created the monster and they either have to slay it or it slays them. Or in an idea world, both. |
