He's not remotely that coherent or lucid. Strongly disagree. "Person, woman, man, camera, TV."

GOP thrashing about in its death throes is highly amusing. All of their solutions are ‘disenfranchise a portion of the electorate by stopping them voting’ (same old same old), none of them involve listening to them and adapting their policies.
It’s almost as if they’re locked into a course of action that doesn’t have popular support because they’ve been bought and paid for by corporate interests.

Proper mad. I saw that segment from a Fox News dude who went on about how this was all the fault of unmarried women, as they voted massively for democrats, unlike married women who were more likely to go GOP (surely this is also just more an age thing). So they needed to get more women to marry, and then ranted about how clearly kids were being brainwashed by these unmarried women being their teachers to go democrat.

Oh yeah, that guy is a proper creep Jake Watter I think. I believe he divorced his wife and shacked up with his intern no less. Not a fucking creep at all.

It gets better, a few people have pointed out that in his tirade he more or less admits to election tampering. Yeah, he just says I got the feds to swoop in on election counts!

Death throes seems a weird way to look at this. (Not aimed at you, but the whole situation.) Everyone is talking about how the republicans are fucked etc but they are still taking 50% of the vote. They still look strong to me and I don't get the wider narrative.

It’s a midterm. Biden’s approval rating is low. The economy is bad. All of those should have resulted in a full GOP sweep. It’s absolutely an historic loss for them, and they’re internally in absolute disarray and Trump is making it even worse.

Yeah I think it was only like 3 times in history of US that these midterms didn't result in a big swing against the sitting presidents party.

That in itself isn't a great endorsement of the system as a whole. Why does that happen almost every single time?

It’s a near universal thing in political systems where there’s midterm equivalents, it’s not unique to two party systems or the US. The incumbent party has an uphill struggle to keep power for a midterm.

The Republicans don’t get 50% of the vote now and haven’t for quite a while.

Nice to see the extremist right wing shit has reached its critical mass and is sliding back down the shitter. It should be noted that gerrymandering is still a massive issue, but the GOP still flopped during the one golden moment when they absolutely should have flourished. Not only that, but the extremist right wing candidates failed to win their seats in the senate and more moderate conservatives winning in their place, so it seems the GOP's staunchly contrarian stance is slowly drawing to a close.
And it's all thanks to trump. Haha.
And largely thanks to Gen X. Bless em.

It would be nice if the youngs could more permanently get over their "oh the system is so fucked, why even bother voting if nothing matters" trendy nihilism. Hopefully this more positive trend continues!

So Trump packing the Supreme Court with right wingers paid off in them being allowed to outrageously gerrymander, but also backfired in terms of the abortion issue motivating a lot of voters to get out there and vote?

Dems retain the Senate and still in with a shot for the House. Thoroughly pleasing news after all the negative predictions.

And only a couple of days away from Trump's big announcement.
The responsible thing to do would be to endorse Ron DeSantis. But lol, as if Trump would do that.

Even better news, Mitch McConnell promised to resign if they lost the senate. Of course, he’s a lying hypocrite, but a world without Mitch McConnell in politics is a good world.

Looks likely the Republican going to wind up losing a senate seat
They failed really hard. The Dems played a good game. And Biden’s abilities and role in tipping things shouldn’t be underestimated.
I’ll fucking lol for days if they keep the House. If the Republicans shit the bed in another GA runoff again and the new session starts with a 51 majority it’ll be a game changer. One will blink first, Manchin or Sinema and then *poof* there goes the filibuster. Then things get interesting as far as voting reforms. Because strip away the rights ability to cheat…
Also, keeping the Senate means another two years of competent judges being put on the federal benches. Plus, if that term limits on USSC justices gets through and old timers like Thomas get booted out…

It’s widely assumed the GA runoff will be a cakewalk now. Rs aren’t going to turn out in volume if control of the senate isn’t at stake. Nothing’s certain, obviously, and no need to be complacent, but they’re going to have to go absolute full tilt campaign to get anywhere, and if Trump decides to announce his run next week they’ll have their hands very full.

Also worth mentioning that the Republicans senate campaign fund done spunked all its money for the result of not moving the needle. At best. Can’t see donors rushing to refill the coffers where the best outcome is the current one
