I think it's down to 3 things. Agree that misogyny and racism played a part. Probably more misogyny. And I think most Americans just live in their own little bubble, whether that's county or state or whatever, so when the economy struggled, they were unaware of the causes and just laid the blame at Biden's door.
So utterly depressing.

Biden did seem to get a lot of the blame for inflation and the economy, despite the US doing better than pretty much every other western economy for those. Plus they seem unaware that quite a few countries have had female leaders these days. People/Polls did say back at the beginning that Harris was unlikely to beat Trump, I mean that's the main reason boring white male Biden was picked the first time around. It just felt as if that couldn't possibly be true in this era.. what with us all being pretty used to female leaders by now. I do wonder how much the Musk/Twitter effect helped Trump. I'm not sure that more time for Harris, or even a proper Democrat primary would have helped that much. Though I guess if they'd picked a boring white guy again... |

I have kids and I seriously question the world they will inherit after this. We millennials in the west perhaps had the "easiest" world to be bought up in before that there was always shit going on, Cold war, Oil price crisis, Suez Crisis, world wars, Colonialism. Sounds bat shit crazy but maybe we had it too good for too long and forgot that this is an insane hateful world.  |
