Pretty much. A fair few of them are just hedging their bets and some are clearly done with confirmation bias in mind. Regardless of what happens the result will will be whatever it is, America will still be fundamentally fucked going forward by the absolutely lunacy that has gripped it for the last 9 years and the machinations of the world's richest man doing everything he can to sow more disinformation while being desperate for people to like him.

I guess we should be thankful that the US still racistly won’t let foreigners run for the top job. Otherwise . . .

I mean Musk kinda told on himself by saying that he's gonna act as some kind of Greyworm like figure over Trump and act as some kind of President from the shadows. Think it came from some interview with Netanyahu who said he'll be unofficial President and Musk is like "Pretty much".

Found this pretty interesting, Buttigieg is a pretty good speaker. It is annoying tho, "I'm an undecided voter" but then you're electing an independent like Jill Stein. You're very much decided.

Yeah, I knew the polls that have been published to date are bullshit but had hoped that the actual exit poll wss half decent (seeing as ours is a very good indication). But because of time zones and time of first publication, the US exit polls change all night to be practically worthless.

I sort of understand how the polls were kind of close when Boden was around, but I'm astonished that they are apparently so close when the Harris campaign has seemed mostly competent but Trump has just lurched for dickhead moment to dickhead moment for weeks. It's like he doesn't give a shit anymore and will say any old shit that comes into his head.

Trumps coming off as beaten over the last week. Or he's seriously unwell and running on empty.

Having worked US elections. It's not just Exit Polls. They announce the actual votes while voting is going on.

If the embed still work www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/us2020/results you should be able to zoom in on any state and look at the counties.

So roughly every 30 minutes you get updates of the current count in every county that's doing it at that time. Some places were every 15 minutes. So around 9pm UK time data starts coming in. Which is 4pm Eastern when the polls aren't even closed. Poll closing times in local time also vary by state, because of course they do.

So you essentially get a fuck load of county level incremental count updates over the course of 12-36 hours. While people are still voting. Which seems insane.

Oh then they "call" the states. Which is when they think someone has almost probably certainly won. But they have fucked that up before. That's the press though rather than election officials. Sometimes they just open the first box in a blue/red state, go "yep it's 80% votes for X, fuck it I'm calling it now".
