he's so narcissistic he'll cater to any audience that will lap up his ridiculous worldview and can be monetised.

It's is interesting to see where he is now because I remember seeing him on his tour in 2018 at the ICC in Brum and the stuff he was talking about, he showed a video of him going outside Barclays and being very much against the system of capitalism and directly mentioned populism and people like Farage and well...he's a Christian now. It's so on the nose I'm dying.

I don't think Russel Brand had any beliefs, he's just an empty shell of a person who will latch onto anything if it gets him attention and money.
He's naturally drawn to provocative causes because then he can beat his pathetic drum and grandstand and use pseudo-intellectual phrasing, but I don't think he actually cares about any of it beyond being able to be a centre of attention.
Always hated the cunt.

Brand clearly believes in something, it just happens to be A-Level students politics of: the system is corrupt! smash the system! Something, something something. No follow up questions.

I think he used to until all the sexual assault allegations came to the fore he got wind of it before they came out and then went full grift mode to continue the adoration which he craves and obviously the money.

Thank fuck. That has to be a sliver of a chance instead of literally none. Harris should be able to shred the remaining debates.

Alright Dems, you have one chance of getting it right. Who do they even pick tho, I don't think there is any nominee that can have as much broad appeal as Biden right?

I don't think Brand ever believed in his leftist politics either, just a way of boosting his ego and cultivating a smug I'm-so-reactionary self image
The alt -right, Trump etc. have also cultivated this image of being outside the political system (doesn't matter if the evidence points to the opposite. Who needs evidence) and there's more money sloshing around on that side of the divide, so it's not surprising that somebody concerned with *appearing* reactionary and counter-mainstream hopped over the fence.
The allegations may have encouraged the switch the right, but grifters were all heading that way anyway.
Also good that Biden is stepping down. Fear it won't make a dent at this point though.

I think it’s the correct decision, but there’s a nasty undercurrent that an older man can’t govern and I think he could. He’s an experienced, decent man.

Wow, that's some pretty seismic news. I'm not sure Harris stands any better chance tbh. But the Dems were doomed so got to roll the dice.

I don't think there's any doubt that Biden is a capable bloke but his age has certainly had a big impact on him in recent years with the pressure of the job itself ageing him (Obama was very clearly a victim of that as it turned him grey) and he was noticeably not doing as well as he once was.
There may only be four years between him and Trump but it looked a lot more and Trump talking absolute shite is pretty much priced in on him, Biden's slip ups were red flags.

It's only going to be Harris, the campaign fund can't go anywhere else and there isn't enough time for anyone else to raise enough money because America is a political basketcase and needs adverts to elect someone

If Harris was the new guy's VP pick (and it's almost certainly going to be a man) would their joint ticket still be able to use the funds? American political funding is fucking weird.

The money belongs to the Biden Harris ticket but she would be allowed to use it. But expect all kinds of Republican legal shenanigans to try and stop/discredit/stir shit up regarding funding

Bidens endorsed Harris so surely it's going to her. Can't make any sense for the party to go against his wishes?

The Dem candidate has either got to be aggressively competent or enormously popular or they’re getting torn to shreds.
It feels like a very televisual twist at this point.

I know my hopes of Michelle O are not really going to happen, but surely the donors want somebody that can win and if a more popular candidate was found they wouldn’t really claim their money back?

Rapist/liar/cheat/fraud/convicted felon YES An old guy who forgot some names END OF THE WORLD Americast mentioned that they’d noticed a set of journalists who had started following Biden purely to jump on the next slip up, in addition to the normal group of political journalists
