He was funny because he had no idea what he was doing. And people went that's exactly what I want in the mayor / prime minister.

And I think Farage on the jungle, despite him literally doing a racist awkward dad act with that girl on it, was massively helped by it. I don’t know how you’d do it but politicians should be banned from entertainment TV.

My wife's cousin won't hear a bad word said about Matt Hancock because of his appearance on I'm a Celebrity, "he's ever such a nice man, he had a tough job to do", etc. despite me pointing out time and time again what an absolute conniving cunt the man is. She also refuses to engage in politics or even keep up-to-date with current affairs ("it's all doom and gloom").
But then again she's also a fucking brain-dead moron who's never had a meaningful thought in her life.

ZyrrSounds like if she’s coupled up her partner should have carte blanche to play around then - try that one if she needs convincing past his politics!

I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to have an in law, then secondly imagining how I would react if one of them was a total mouth breather. Especially if it was someone who my partner was very close to. I guess like most things in a relationship you just compromise and try ignore it for the greater good, although I remember an ex's brother was very much into ukip as she explained to me, luckily I never got to meet him.

There's a reason why they say people shouldn't talk about politics and religion. Best to steer clear.

I don’t know the whole story but parents and my brother’s new wife have gone through long periods of not speaking in the last year or so. Made for an interesting dynamic at their wedding. The wedding was last weekend That isn’t a joke.

He was funny because he had no idea what he was doing. And people went that's exactly what I want in the mayor / prime minister. It's an act. There's a article by some columnist who's name I forget who saw him doing an afterdinner speech. Johnson arrives late, makes a show of sitting on a random table and asks the guests what the gig is in aid of. Makes a show of having lost his notes. Generally acts like chaotic old Boris. Years later the same columnist is at a totally different event, and Johnson is again booked as an afterdinner speaker. He arrives late, acts chaotic, loses his notes etc. He does the *exact* same act *to the letter* with the same timing. It was an obvious merticulously rehearsed performance. I mean, of course it fucking is, but it's interesting to see such a brazen example and just how everybody is taken in by it.

The phrase “as long as he’s happy” made more appearances than you’d generally want for such a big occasion

I admittedly got sucked in by the scampish buffoon off HIGNFY persona years ago. Probably due to him not being as obviously vile during his mayoral stint. It really is a paper thin disguise and you can't unsee it once you've seen past it.

They clearly don't care - their god-king owes someone tens of millions for defaming someone he raped.

Interesting. I didn't know that rape and grooming were different opinions and perspectives. Good to know.

Like, the bit about Trump's convictions was entirely factual, where the difference in perspectives there?

They no longer recognise the courts as legitimate, except for the one that ruled against Hunter Biden.

Well, morality is all subjective I guess. Some people believe rape and grooming and tax evasion and corruption are wrong. Another side is happy to ignore all that if those perpetrators hate the gays and Mexicans as much as they do.

Scrawled out the words sheep farmer on a bit of paper then rambled on about that, or something

And the transformation is complete. Man I love me some grift!
Man it feels like yesterday that he was talking about the homeless, fighting capitalism. Who would have thought an addictive personality like him with a raging case of narcissm would pivot to the far right and dress it up as choosing freedom and democracy.

Brand's probably now hoping for a contract for a show at GB News ahead of the long queue of unemployed Tory MPs.

Predictable, if only because it’s best to lean heavily right if raping is one of your hobbies.

It is weird how the most ardent libertarians end up pivoting towards politicians that are the most authoritarian. Think ultimately it comes down to staying with the party that will ensure you stay rich. And in Brands case, he's so narcissistic he'll cater to any audience that will lap up his ridiculous worldview.
