He's now whinging that it was rigged, quelle surprise. Apparently the gagging order still applies until after sentencing so he's in contempt of court. Shame.

So if he wins the presidency will he be able to pardon himself?

The last eight and a half years have been fucking shite* so I'm going to take every piece of schadenfraude based pleasure I want to and can find in the downfall of any and all of the pondscum involved in all of it that I can.
Trump convicted. 34 times. Unanimously by a jury of his peers that took an inordinate amount of time to select in an attempt to secure some credible level of impartiality. Good.

So if he wins the presidency will he be able to pardon himself? Apparently not because these are state crimes.

So if he wins the presidency will he be able to pardon himself? Depends (ha!), they're state crimes, aren't they? He shouldn't be able to... Then again, he "shouldn't" have been able to do a looooooooot of things, so who knows...

So if I understand right.
The judge could sentence him up to 4 years per count. Trump can appeal but seems unlikely he'd win.
A felon can be president.
The president cannot pardon state convictions.
So the he could be president in jail.
What a country.

He'll appeal, and that process could take months. And if he wins the presidency in the meantime, his justice department will put all kinds of pressure on the state courts to overturn it. Even if he can't pardon himself, I'm sceptical that he'll ever see the inside of a jail cell if he wins.
To be clear, I'm happy that they've convicted him on something! But I'm not going to be cracking the champagne bottles just yet.

I could even take house arrest, honestly, just let him see SOME consequences that aren't fees he'll never pay

I remember how I heard about Princess Diana. I know where I watched 9/11. This is how I learned of the Trump verdict:

I’d settle for just 24 hours in jail if it involves them shaving that monstrous construction of a hairstyle off.

It'd be funny if he got a fine for the offences, but jail time for contempt of court

TBF, it did sound like one of the weakest cases. Not just in terms of penalty, but in terms of the prosecution being able to prove intention and a 2 step connection. Interesting analysis of why he lost: www.bbc.com/news/articles/c288wpj1glyo

It is pretty weak imo. Like, I'll take it, but the other pending cases are far stronger, and I wish they had gotten to trial first. Especially the documents case, which is about as open-and-shut a "guilty" verdict as one could possibly be.

Lock him up, Lock him up
First time trump has won a popular vote - the MAGA idiots are seething and on pure copium, they will still vote for him. (I bet my ex-wife's family in texas are raging about the verdict) I doubt trump will go to jail for this and still run for POTUS, which is fucked up as he is rapist, convicted felon and also tried to overthrow the government by rallying his cultists
But Stormy daniels is a hero, she took a inch (or half a inch) for the team.

It's kinda ironic that America's hero is a pornstar.
God bless America. It's one f*cked up place. Thank goodness that certain states are still great places but the overall United States? What a mess!

How would someone go about setting up an illegal nappy smuggling operation into a prison anyway?

He won't go to jail. He'd still need security even if he got locked up and that would be a nightmare to work out. He'll be fined, his army of goons will pay for it, he'll win the presidency because even if people don't vote for Trump, they're still not going to vote for Biden.
Should that happen, expect funding for Ukraine to stop immediately, and he might even recognise East Ukraine as independent states. Russia eyes Poland, four more years of being on the brink.
Feeling cheery today.
