Probably mainly on Ubisoft Connect like me. Almost never open it so it's hard to remember.

Ubi has given away several on Uplay... or Ubisoft Connect, or whatever they call it now.
The best one is still AC4 for me, but I heard the PC port is disastrous. Might be better off playing the console version. I have some 50 hours stashed in it. And might be almost time for a replay...

Only issue is, if you want to play the Aveline DLC for IV on PC, it's only available through Ubi and not on the Steam version. Gatekeeping bar stewards.

Epic rather than Steam, but Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, 90% Off until 10th January, was £49.99, now £4.99

That's really tempting despite me bouncing off ME1 hard.
It really feels like the kind of game that should be right up my street, and 3 games like that seems like a huge bargain.
But if I buy it and then bounce off ME1 again I'm gonna feel like an idiot.
Maybe I should just HD mod the version I already have...

I played a bit of ME1 on the Steam Deck. Runs really nicely. It's on my list of playing eventually..

I can't even be arsed to play it on Game Pass let alone get it on deep sale.

I feel like I have all the originals and most of the DLC, yet I've never actually played 3. 2 felt like it had dated really badly when I tried playing them all the way through a few years ago (think it was not too long before Legendary Edition was announced). Only managed to play about half of it. Probably not helped that it was so clearly designed to be played on a controller, but the PC version didn't allow this.
Weirdly, I thought the first one was really great and better than I remembered.
Does the legendary edition improve the feel or are they just graphics bumps?

iirc the main thing I didn't like about #1 was that the Shepherd character really annoyed me. Every time they said something I wanted to slap them. Then I got to the big space station and there were dozens of people to talk to and it just annoyed me.
I wonder if she mellows out over the course of the game.

Does the legendary edition improve the feel or are they just graphics bumps? It does add controller support, probably the biggest change in the PC version if you wanted that. Also more character customisation options. In ME1 they went over some of the rough edges, like making the Mako physics a little less egregious, and some other gameplay/control/quality of life changes that I forgot about; I think it ended up being easier than the original version though. I believe they changed much less in 2 & 3, as far as I remember it was pretty much just a graphics upgrade.

Every winter sale I realise that I haven't bought anything *direct* from steam since the last winter sale, so I can't sell the trading cards. So I buy something cheap in the sale, trade in the cards, and then don't play it.

Pretty sure I'll still be playing BG3 until February/March so really buying that was effectively like getting something in a sale given how much content it has. Game could be 100 quid and still good value.

BG3. VPN to Ukraine, then buy from GOG, for a 50% discount.

I went on a spree today, starting (almost to my own surprise) with Ubisoft's store, then GOG, then Steam.
Ubi: Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.
Played Origins and Odyssey before (but didn't finish the latter). Didn't unconditionally love either, but really liked exploring the playground Egypt in Origins and Kassandra as a character in Odyssey, so a few monies to revisit each seems worth it.
GOG: Dredge Mutant Year Zero
Steam: Elden Ring (about fricking time) Driftlands Mass Effect Legenday Edition

My friends got me a bunch of Steam wallet money for my birthday, so when the sale started I bought myself: Iron Lung Turbo Overkill (+ Blake Stone and the Aliens of Gold because it was actually cheaper with it) American Arcadia Warhammer 40K Boltgun Still have 50 euro left, I'll keep them around for Alone in the Dark, if it's good of course. Just grabbed Prodeus for £1.79 from cdkeys. Yoink! Very much tempted at that price...

so far Dave the Diver - there's some bundle deal allowing for 28% off (so £12.23 uk) as already own Dredge. will probably spring for some Snowrunner dlc later.
At £2.49 it'd probably be rude not to pick up Dishonored 2. And if I'm not going to spring £1.75 for Star Wars Squadrons I should probably go ahead & take it off the wishlist. Tempted to join Cult of the Lamb (£11.69)

Squadrons was given away for free at some point. I forget where. Epic? I wonder if it still has a good playerbase...

Had bought The Sinking City a few days ago and had about 46 € left.
In the sale I got:
- Boltgun - Chernobylite - Mechwarrior 5
and two more cheaper ones
- Pilgrims - Cortex Command
I can see myself getting to two or three of those fairly quickly.

Just grabbed Prodeus for £1.79 from cdkeys. Yoink! Thanks for that tip off. Think I had mistaken that name for a much older game 'Proteus'? but once I took a look at a few reviews it seemed daft not to tip my hand and try it out. Fantastic. Only a few levels in and I may try to crank up the difficulty a bit, but it is quite the looker in an old game/new trousers sort of way. Most fun I had on PC since I upgraded recently.

I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one who confused this title with Proteus and I was even wondering why people were suddenly excited by that game... I've bought 6 games so far in the sale (though admittedly one of these was not actually on sale) : - A Highland Song - Contraband Police - Atom RPG Trudograd - Deliver Us Mars - Draugen - Total War: Napoleon - Definitive Edition

Got Elden Ring, Astalon, and Shovel Knight Treasure Trove so far. I don't really have a lot of money, so I wish the sale would end already!

Picked up Dune Spice Wars at a reduced price. Seems really good so far, like a mix of Northguard and Stellaris (same developer as Northguard). Helps if you like Dune of course, they have made a good effort with the source material.
