Oh is it just a seasonal bounty? Ah, you'll piss through that without even knowing it if you play a couple of times a week then. No, it's not a seasonal challenge, it's this week's step of this season's story quest.

Ah, that's a bit different then. Definitely one of the more drawn out quest steps if you're mostly solo.

According to Bungie, the 50 champions step now auto-completes.

Anyways, grinding though it, this week's the step challenge. And not as bad as I first thought. So there.

They really are being a bit cunty with this seasonal title. Think I'll just give up on it at this point at something like 20 ruffians and 0 seasonal weapon patterns down. I just can't face it any more.
The ruffians one is bad enough. I've had a few runs where I get 0, and have even had one run where both were despawned by some trolling prick hitting 100% the exact moment they spawned. Relying on complete RNG for the weapon patterns is just nuts. Saw someone at level 200 on the season pass who still hasn't completed that triumph.

I'm about 150 and there are some weapons I have 0 progress towards. Including 2 throne world weapons needed for the quest.

Oh yeah, I just gave up on the throne world ones even after they buffed the drop rate in wellspring. I know they want you to grind, but no fucking way am I doing the same repetitive activity hundreds of times in the hopes of a drop.

I'm expecting the (justifiable) unhappy noise from reddit etc to really kick up a notch next week, maybe to the point that Bungie will do something about the drop rate but who knows. I looked at the next few weeks of weekly seasonal challenges on Braytech, next week is levelling 3 crafted season weapons to level 10, and later on 2 to level 20, and both of those are to get the upgrade tokens for the star chart thing in the Helm. Salt levels will go through the roof. I don't mind more difficult season titles (they've been getting too easy), but not if means grinding a mindlessly easy season activity for weeks and weeks at the mercy of RNG. I've got every season title since they started but can see myself passing on this one, I'm losing interest.

tbh I think I've approached burnout with this game. 90% of the time spent playing it is just doing chores to earn back the ability to play the parts of the game I do like.
I don't think people are necessarily trolling with the ruffians, tbh. Bungie just for some reason decided to make them spawn at like 95% progress. It's absurd. Better off just doing the exploit for solo matchmaking so you can get like 4 done a run. Plus if you bring a rocket and kill yourself at the end of the run and respawn after opening the buried treasure, you can re-slot your map and open all 3 chests. Makes grinding it way more efficient.

The spawning is totally disconnected from progress, they spawn at 2:30 and 7:30 or something silly like that and just won't spawn if you've already hit 100% by those points. (which is usually the cause of 0 kills for me)
The dude was just standing there holding treasure waiting for the ruffians to spawn both times, then threw it as soon as they did.
And yeah, I have considered looking at that solo matchmaking script, but I'd still have the RNG fuckery for the weapon patterns to deal with so just can't be arsed.

Yeah, true enough. Fuck it, though. I'd rather make a stand (no matter how insignificant it might be) and show that I'm not cool with Bungo pulling this kind of shit. Plenty more games in my backlog I can get some actual enjoyment out of.

Its along the same lines as the early days of Champions in strikes. Absolutely needed signposting much better that killing them all came with a bonus. The Ruffians are even more ridiculous if anything.
They need to figure out how to either make Light Level a less blatant player-engagement trap or do away with it altogether. I've hammered this season and I could probably scrape together 1595 max. Cheesing it through 3 characters or other similar means isn't the answer either. My time should be respected by the core systems of the game.
That said I've found a clan to run endgame shit with so I'm playing it a lot more lately. Even managed to do the first Master Challenge last week which is the first time since probably Shadowkeep I've been 'on pace' with endgame activities as they drop.

Decided to give it another chance now that they've sorted out the seasonal weapon grind at least. Got 5 seasonal red frames drop in the couple of hours I played last night, and haven't even tried focussing one yet. Either I was very lucky or they've buffed the drop rate a lot.
Then I tried getting a couple of ruffian kills and nope... Still utterly fucked unless you're solo or in a like-minded group. Had to laugh at one of the weekly quests that's to complete all expedition maps in less than 10 minutes, which isn't going to help my kill farming...

I love going on YouTube and watching build videos, I'm like wow that looks amazing I'm going to give it a go. Yep I've got the exotic, fantastic let's upgrade that to 8 or 9. Put all the corrects bits of the build on..almost there just the mods to go. Oh, I hardly have any of those but I will try it anyway. Oh it doesn't work Put a fucking mod vendor in the game, there is absolutely no reason why there shouldn't be one

There are a couple of mod vendors, aren't there? Banshee and Ada. But yeah, they're on a rotation so you really need to know which mods you're missing and keep an eye on their rotation schedule.

Mods are cheap enough that I just bought everything whenever they were selling something I didn't have. I'm pretty sure I got all the standard, charged and warmind mods by now.
Powerful Friends is nice to have for sure, but also the one that raises agility by 20, I forget what it's called.

Did the Vow of the Disciple raid last night for the first time. Good fun. Didn't seem as difficult as some of the others, but then again I was mainly tasked with add clearing. The final boss fight was pretty cool. That's me ticked off the revamped Kings Fall, Garden of Salvation and now Vow. Trying to arrange a session (or two) to do Last Wish next week.
Quite enjoying my solar warlock build now I've grabbed a calus mini-tool with incandescent and I'm burning everything.

I love Vow. Symbol heavy mechanically but from a lore and world building perspective it was truly something else. It's a shame Rhulk will be a one-and-done as he has such a strong back story.

Yeah it was just a very cool raid. The symbol stuff was definitely confusing. I could have done with a print out next to me I think!
The caretaker was quite an awesome fight as well.

Their Raids have been excellent since Forsaken. Garden of Salvation gets a lot of shit but it's probably in my top 3.
Really interested to see how they deal with the Final Shape Raid.

Garden of Salvation has some beautiful vistas mind you. I thought the last encounter was fairly decent as well, quite interesting mechanically even if it took me a couple of wipes to get it down. I did that one last week and ended up doing the Divinity bits as well so managed to bag that, even though it was nerfed not long after! Outwith clan stuff, me and the boy are toiling away at Duality. We know what we need to do during the Gahlran encounter, just a matter of doing it. We're going to start it again tonight and see if we can at least get past that bit this time. Just need to work on maximising damage on Gahlran during the tiny-as-fuck window we get after killing the second batch of shadows. I'm using well of radiance and divinity and he's hitting him with witherhorde and taipan. Just realised that as he's a hunter, I should get him to tether as well...
Also, on an incredibly pathetic level, I was overjoyed this week that the bright dust I had managed to get me the ornament for wavesplitter I've been wanting. Now it matches my outfit better. Shit like this matters, naturally.

I'm wondering more what they are going to do for the seasons after The Final Shape. Realistically, the current story must end with the expansion, at most with the raid. So the next four seasons are going to be... just cleanup? Setting up the next story? Filler?
