It's an ageing engine for sure but frankly, I still think the game visually goes toe to toe with basically any other modern release you care to name. The art direction is absoultely fabulous. But they're also trying to do more lately; the lighting tends to be more complex, more enemies on screen, bigger environments. The engine getting on a bit means it's likely to chug a bit, unfortunately. I reckon it's likely to be a CPU issue though, as most of the areas only tank in combat.
Curiously, Duality dungeon on Master is currently bugged and drops pinnacle gear infinitely, so hoping to take advantage of that over the next few days. My warlock is base PL 1566 after a week which is nice though. It's also dropping relatively high stat so making a set of artifice armour isn't out of the question.
Not sure if anyone here knows as well, but Resilience got a massive buff this season. Having 100 res now gives you 40% damage resistance, compared to basically a 15% health boost before this season. You can be very, very tanky now. No longer a dump stat.

Is it just me or are Nightmare tiers just so bloody boring? Only thing it seems good for is doing the catalyst for Sunshot (although even that is dragggggggging)!

Could be, but I don't think the engine is that well optimized for the CPU anyway. Even on my Ryzen 5500U, which doesn't even run at high clocks in the first place, usage only stays at around 40-50%. Is it just me or are Nightmare tiers just so bloody boring? Only thing it seems good for is doing the catalyst for Sunshot (although even that is dragggggggging)! Best way to get the Sunhot cat done is to go on Nessus, to the Hallows well, and wait for the enemies moving event. Jut shoot the Fallen coming out of the caves, and watch the fireworks. |

Heh, that was great fun back in the day.
I quite like alters of sorrow for any chain reaction type catalysts. In fairness it's my usual spot for any catalyst these days as you can normally get right into it without entering a wish code or waiting around for an event.

Altars is good, only problem is that you are competing against other players for kills.
I hate that, almost ten years and millions of complaints later, we still have such an issue in coop activities. Going into a strike, I have to run ahead of everyone else or risk having my lunch eaten. (this wouldn't even be an issue if most bounties didn't have a time limit, but they do)

Yeah, I crafted a few guns last season but only bothered with the glaive and the precision rocket launcher. Heavy weapons like the RL are kind of OK as they level up as you do other stuff, but forcing you to use the crappest perks of a primary until you unlock some decent perks just doesn't seem fun to me.
I've been ticking off a few of the annoying bits for the title this weekend. Got nearly all of the shadows triumph done, but gave up after an hour of waiting for a random spawn to appear. This game can feel like a second job at times...
For some reason the scout rifle and exotic sidearm are the only seasonal weapons I've tried that register kills for the seasonal weapon kills triumph. Got a bow with headstone I could be using instead, but nope...

You get the latest leviathan public event too which is quite fun. I've been playing F2P on Xbox to grind that one and a few other things for the seasonal title.
There's plenty there to get a decent taste for the game really, but you'll want to put down some cash if you really want to keep playing.
Fingers crossed it comes to PS+ soon. It was great having it on game pass.

Yeah I'm pretty much expecting that to happen when the Sony acquisition of Bungie is completed but could be looking at the end of this year. Last I read that was still not a completed deal and they expect to close out by end of Q3 this year (end of Dec) with some FTC scrutiny going on in the meantime. Crystal ball speculation but maybe Witch Queen onto PS Plus (top tier?) for the final season of WItch Queen and then they put Lightfall on PS Plus at launch in Feb 23? (same way that Beyond Light launched on Game Pass when they had the XBox deal, you get the launch season but have to buy the subsequent ones) |

There was a somewhat coherent story when it launched but it got ripped apart when they made some changes. Destiny 2 can feel a bit jarring for new players now because it all got buggered up. If you play enough to get into the gameplay you won't care too much and will get into the story and lore a bit more as you get to the later expansions. Tldr: it's a weird game to get into if you haven't been playing for years but the gunplay is great |

Ah, I'd missed the news that there's a telesto cat. Did a few lost sector runs to get the latest hunter exotics then gave up.
Did finally get the Jotunn one to drop, but can't really be arsed grinding out kills with it when I could be using Calus mini tool.

Telesto catalyst has been around for a long time.
I have the Outbreak and Jotunn catalysts to grind. Can't really be bothered because I don't use them though. On the other hand, I bought Dead Man's Tale and Hawkmoon from Xur, and DMT does seem pretty useful, so I'll need to find that catalyst at least.

Good thing I haven't bought the season, because I haven't really managed to play much. I'm only rank 39 at the moment.
I'll probably at least manage to get the seasonal weapon from the vanguard playlist, because when I do log in, it's usually to relax with some strikes. Pretty close at this point.

After 2500 hours I deleted this off the old SSD last night. I've been finding it a bit stale since the Witch Queen expansion, mostly because I find the hive such a boring enemy, but seeing the solstice crap update pushed me to get rid. Not having the season pass for the first time made the decision easier too. I did fire up D1 afterwards though and finally finished off the quest for the Dead Orbit exotic class item. Ah factions, the good old days.
